I am still trying to understand why no one shares in my optimism about passley. I guess I am the only one who notices how he takes advantage of every opportunity he gets when he steps on the floor.

**yes guys i was joking around- although I think he is good for 5 hard fouls on big men, but I guess that is not good sportsmanship.

harsh.............but funny.
One of the saddest exercises in the world is to look at the four basketball hires preceding Bruce Pearl and look at who we hired compared to the candidates we passed on bringing to Knoxville.

Do you put O'Neil in the same class as the other two?

From a basketball standpoint, no. However, it was immediately obvious that Kevin was a terrible fit from a personality standpoint.

He was more in the DeVoe mold. Solid coaching, terrible motivator and recruiter.

The 2 worst places I've ever been to watch the Vols were Florida Field and Rupp Arena...I don't have a good feeling about the UK game...

O'Neil was an
excellent recruiter. He left the program with enough talent that even Jerry Greene could have some success.
Correct. He, along with Ricky Birdsong, also recruited most of the talent for Lute Olsen in the early '90s at Arizona. Kevin was named the top recruiter in the country by his peers while he was an assistant in Tuscon. Hathaway, Black, Victor, Tony Harris. He beat big time programs for each and every one of those guys. Further, he laid the groundwork that led to UT getting Vincent Yarbrough.

Are we hearing subtle comparisons to the recruiting abilities of THFCATUOTKX?

Not really. Recruiting in basketball is a completely different animal. There are a lot more peripheral issues involved with hoops recruiting.

Fair enough. Was just wondering if recruiting vs. floor coaching was a factor..

don't disagree...but to date, we haven't exactly been road warriors with Lofton.......last year not withstanding, we all know our history in Rupp.

Its not the sameplace w/ Tubby lately. They seemed to have slipped a little the last few years. We may have a shot but they've lost two in a row, that makes it even tougher for us. They definitely will be ready...Tubby is jealous of Bruce

I believe Turkey Neck Green won there once or twice in his time.

AMEN, Green inherited some golden talent and couldn't stay sober. Wade probably could have won w/ that talent.

O'Neill was one of the top recruiters in the country. He just couldn't stay faithful...

Wade Houston wouldn't have won with the '96 Bulls.

Hey hat, FYI Steely Dan is playing New Orleans Jazz Fest on 5/6 and Orlando Hard Rock on 5/12. Should you make it to the Orlando show, it would be my pleasure to buy you a drink.

I appreciate the offer. However, I would attend a Dancing With The Stars On Tour performance before I would willingly subject myself to a Steely Done concert.

Seriously man I'm pretty fluent in music. I swear i didn't know who the hell Steely Dan was until that one year they won an ass load of Grammy's. Then to find out they were around back when my dad was young. Are they good or what? Compare them to someone a little more main stream.

I'm trying to come up with someone, but my brain is still a little foggy from those days..
