UT Fanbase Size

Hey Guys, I am doing a project for my Marketing Class, and we have to pick a product/retailer combination and do a market analysis.

Anyways, I am doing my Neyland Stadium Print (product) in the UT bookstore (retailer). Would anyone know how to quantify the market for this product? Would anyone know how to quantify the UT fanbase?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and GO VOLS!!!

Find the amount of UT alumni + current students. That is a good start.

There is an article link in one of the forums that talks about top football programs, fandom, etc.. I think it claimed we had around 1 million fans.. but there was a lot of debate as it claimed schools like Georgia, West Virginia, etc have more fans than we did.. pure speculation at best, very difficult metric to come-up with

In all seriousness, I would think you would have to get a hold of alumni data and start there. I know there are as many Vol fans who aren't alumni so you you would have to account for them. Maybe double the number of alumni?

I get emails from both the UT alumni and athletic depts. Maybe reach out to them and get an idea of their database size?

To size up the fan base, I'd take the population of Tennessee, and multiply it by 3.21. That will account for residents who are fans of other teams, and fans who live out of state.
