mt.org in meltdown mode.

They need to drop football to D2 - it's embarrassing.

The man was a terrible recruiter later on, but they'd NEVER be this bad if he was still around. Karma is a b****.

I like Porter, but it's hard to sell this garbage. Admin has no commitment to football, facilities are garbage, almost no fan support. No excuses.

So true about Memphis and thats what West saw. All the money gets poured into the BB program and football suffers for it

I gained a lot of respect for Tommy when he pretty much blasted the administration for their lack of support in his press conference shortly after they canned him. It's 100% true.

West is a good coach. He just got tired of not getting any support. Its hard to win when you dont have the support of the administration.

Some poster on the Memphis board said that RC Johnson will be fired as early as Monday. Lets see if this is true.

How do you give up 611 yards to Ark St and talk about getting into a BCS conference with a straight face?

Read around, looked some stuff up... And came to conclusion this was Tiger High's worst loss in modern college football history.

LOL. Enjoy D-II.

That's not exactly true. They paid Tommy West $1 million plus per year, which was the most in C-USA at the time. What happened is, at the time when they should've been pushing to improve football facilities following the Deangelo Williams years, they thought they could muddle through while upgrading other facilities that also badly needed to be upgraded.

The new golf facility - first class. The new baseball park - first class. The Finch Center - first class. The new Hall of Fame/Athletic Offices - amazing. The Tiger Lane tailgating area outside the Liberty Bowl - awesome. So it's a misnomer to say they haven't put money into facilties the last few years. Now they're just getting around to football, which is about 5 years too late.

The depth of the program isn't an issue of commitment, facilities or fan support. It's about two bad coaching choices. 1) Keeping Tommy West too long 2) Hiring a running back's coach who was nothing more than a recruiter at LSU and who is in way over his head trying to run a Div. 1 program.

Those problems are fixable, and fairly quickly.

Fail. Nothing there is first class.
