Reguardless of how it happens Fulmer will not be head coach forever. So assuming he leaves within the next few years here are my candidates. Feel free to agree, laugh at or just plain disagree.
John Chavis - Id say strongest candidate, still remains DC and hands the offense over to a top notch OC hopefully. May grate some vol fans who want new blood
Jon Gruden - Vol ties, NFL is by no means a guaranteed gig even for him, takes no sh*t so discipline would be better Superbowl rings help recruit, ask Charlie Weiss
David Cutcliffe - Heir apparent? I dont think so, not as strong a recruiter as Fulmer but better coach, suffers from being one of the old boys just like Cheif
Bobby Petrino - great play caller, recruits just as well as fulmer, loyalty issues would be the biggest concern jumped from UL it seems after constantly denying he was ever interested in other jobs
Bob Stoops - could be possible, brings him closer to home, can attract 5* kids, dont think will get the Gator job soon unless Urban bolts for some reason. Has been to the big game. long shot but would be my pick.
Wild pick Chris Petersen / Bronco Mendenhall
Two of the brightest offensive minds should tennessee want a new direction in offense. Wild long shot outsiders but who knows!
