One of the best money can buy. Seriously though, being only one assist shy of a triple double...we had no answer.

It's surprising that they are 9-5 as much athleticism as they seem to have.

I don't think it is. I think they are just young.

Jamont shoots the ball way more than anyone else and he is only hitting about 43% of his shots. His assist to turnover ratio is only the fifth highest on the team. He obviously played better tonight than he has so far this season.

Gordon was arrested this summer in Nashville for poss. of a sched II drug. He pled guilty to it as well. Didn't see a thing about it in the paper..... kind of interesting that he was not suspended at all at Miss. State

They must have hired UF's "slick" attorney.

Maybe that's why they're only 9-5. They made an incredible run at Missouri to turn a deficit into 10-point lead. Something like 13 down to 10 ahead, all in the first half. Then, they looked like a completely different team and lost.

Vol Freak did you go the game? I couldn't believe how bad our crowd was. Not the attendance, I mean that was terrible in itself, but the people who did show up seemed to have an outback hangover. Especially after Loftons huge shots toward the end it was like we had just went up 6 to 8. I can't figure out why our fans are so much more into football games than basketball. Our team needed us and yes at times we helped them but the overall atmosphere was lacking tremendously. I guarantee I could have got my 19 month old to sleep in there.

I think it was a great win and a small taste for our freshmen what the SEC is going to be like. Crews commented after the game that it was way more physical than he thought it was going to be.

I think MSU is not only young, but also we're fired up to play on Tennessee's floor. And yes, they're very athletic, Gordon is a player, but from the sounds of previous posts he'll be moving on to the next level sooner rather than later.

I'm pretty confident today is the only time we'll see him play in TBA.

no student section probably. they do provide a spark, especially at football games, sometimes they are the only ones who get loud.

The crowd was pretty quiet for the most part. They got loud when we needed it though. Honestly we didn't have a whole lot to cheer about for the most part. 18 from Lofton is like a normal guy not scoring and JuJuan was really not a huge factor. I think Crews single handedly was responsible for finally getting the crowd involved.

To answer your question though, I don't know. Honestly I was sitting in my seat in the first half and I guess the name Hansbrough made me think of Carolina. I wondered to myself if a Carolina crowd was ever that quiet for a conference opener. We've not had any great crowds so far this year.

:lolabove: Good Point Vol Freak. I really enjoyed going to the game tonight. I had fun and I yelled and encouraged our players. I am not kidding at one point when a foul was called on Miss State at a crucial time Bruce Pearl was the only person I could hear clapping. I think our fans are great for the most part. I think they are much more basketball smart than some might think. I just don't understand why we couldn't get the lower section filled for our SEC home opener. There were full sections in the upper level that were empty. Everyone always has said "get a good time on the court and I will support them". We have a good team and we have had lackluster support at best. We had the largest increase in attendance last year in the NCAA and we ranked in the top 5 in total attendance. I should be satisfied with that. I am not. Let's get out there and support this great team!

I didn't hear any booing unless it was at the officials (is that what you are referring to?) or the crowd chanting DUUUUUUUKE.

Could have been some of the obvious MSU walks that weren't called....or the obvious MSU fouls that weren't called...

But it was probably when one of their guys shoved one of our guys in the free throw lane as he was being subbed out of the game. It was VERY blatent should have been a technical, there was no call. The guys in stripes today must have arrived from Foot Locker, because they were poor excuses for referees.

there were several over the back fouls on MSU that weren't called.

I think it was Charles Rhodes (#23) that everyone was booing at. I think he was the one who did the pushing and every time he touched the ball you would hear a chorus of booooos.

Yes. He took a cheap shot at one of our guys (didn't catch who it was) between foul shots, and it wasn't called. The crowd let the refs (and apparently the TV audience) know what we felt about it. He did proceed to receive the same treatment with every touch in the second half.

Also, did anyone notice the "Hey, hey, hey, Goodbye" playing on the PA with the player DQ late in the 2nd half? I don't remember that before? Nice touch.

I was surprised that pearl did not have Tabb guarding Gordon in the last couple of minutes. Gordon was eating Dane's and Juan's lunch.....

I hate to read this about our crowd because IMO that may be the one factor (lack of fan support) that ends up driving CBP away. He puts a lot of blood, sweat & tears into building the "community" portion of the program, & if the team continues to win & if fans don't show up (& be vocal), I can see him getting frustrated and being more open to job opportunities elsewhere.
