South Beach isn't for everyone. It's not like Nick was out at the Clevelander, Mansion, and Prime 112 every night.

The working conditions for an NFL coach can be nothing but miserable. Beyond that, dealing with the prima donnas that man the NFL has to be absolutely painful.

I for one wouldn't live in Miami. I wouldn't go live in Looooooska but I would never live in Miami.

Oh, your talking about Saban.At first I thought you were talking about HatVol, but he has pimp pads in Knoxville and New York as well.At least thats what OrangeSquare said when he last visted him.:)

According to reports he was getting 4.5 at Miami. I think he realized he could not win in the NFL and bailed.

NFL Coach: you have to respect the players. Players worth more than you do.

College Coach: you are the daddy. Players respect you. Less pressure. You take the command, not the players.

The number I heard was a 17mil difference in salary...
We’re going to briefly delay our righteous moral indignation over Nick Saban breaking his contract with the Miami Dolphins to pocket a guaranteed $17 million more coaching the University of Alabama.

If someone promises you an extra $17 million — GUARANTEED — what are you going to do?

I may be in the minority, but I honestly believe him when he said his heart was just in the college game. I'm not going to fault him for doing what he wants to do.

I don't fault him for going either. But I am not ready to hand him trophies either. Those he will have to earn.

He left because he was going to be a failure in the NFL and realized it. Saw a great oppurtunity at Bama with great money, so he took it.

I think he was looking into the crystal ball and saw himself out of work in 2 years as the Dolphins continued to struggle.

I don't think his failure was in anyway guaranteed in Miami. If the team doctors had recommended Drew Brees instead of Daunte Culpepper, the Dolphins are preparing for the playoffs right now. Everyone seems to forget they won their last six games of the '05 season. The book was far from complete as to Saban as a head coach in the NFL.

The media is pinning the Brees decision soley on the shoulders of Saban these days. I would say that his NFL book has seen its final chapter now.

But the forword on the book suggested a major flop! :)

I think he knew the ending to the book and did not like it. He will do great at bammer, but the NFL is a different beast it seems.

I don't see how 9-7, with a six game losing streak to end the season, followed by a season wrecked by being forced to play Joey Harrington at QB, suggests anything when you took over a bad team initially.

The NFL media is not too keen on how Nick strung them along the last few weeks. Peter King is especially irate.
