Notre Dame has talent, but their senior and junior classes right now are mostly guys that are subpar that Willingham recruited. They have had great classes since then, and will be good once those guys get coached up by their great coaching staff.

UT has elite talent, all the classes have been great, but they have fallen short in coaching the players up. They always will have great talent, and as long as Fulmer is here it will always disappoint.

My two favorite teams are in completely opposite situations. If only they could form one team.....:good!:

I don't think anyone would call TN's talent in 2006 elite. Better than many, yes, but not elite.

Last year we had elite talent, however, and went 5-6 with it.

We don't need to combine the teams, just the abilities of the coaching staffs.

Consistently top 10, top 5 talent is elite considering there are what 119 programs?

I agree; and we've had that talent most all of the time. However, this year was perhaps our least talented team in well over a decade in the spots that separate the contenders from the pretenders...the lines of scrimmage.

1. Tennessee and Notre Dame is a distant second because of my family history there.

based on the results of the season, i think the coaching staffs accomplished about the same thing.

beat who you were better than, and got beat by every team better than you.

looks like a push to me.

Tell that to the pollsters. ND will probably be top 15 and UT unranked in the final polls.

Plus it cost about 3 to 4 times as much to go to school there.

Long term, player development at ND will be called player development. We have no such animal associated with our program.

Difference? They will be up there no matter how bad they perform because of $$$$ and we have to earn our respect by working very very very hard. We need to beat big teams not UK or Vandy.

UT has an elite talent, but last season didn't show these talents at all. Even at the Outback bowl, where was this talent? The guys have to show more heart. It was painful seeing them play in the Outback bowl. And Fulmer? he showed no emotion whatsoever.

Notre Dame will be ranked 21 in the polls, imo. although, if they werent ranked, i wouldnt be disappointed or feel shortchanged

The difference between ND and UT is that UT doesn't have an exclusive TV deal with NBC and we have to worry about getting through Florida and Georgia every year just to get to the conference championship and then worry about winning that game in order to get a BCS berth. Poor Notre Dame has to face the likes of Army and Navy to earn a BCS berth because it is evident they don't have to beat USC or Michigan.

Conference championship games really make it much more difficult for the SEC, ACC and Big 12. We are a victim of our own greed.

But this year made all of the difference in the world for Florida. I can't imagine them in the championship without that handling of AR. We'd right now be preparing for OSU v UM redux.

Here's a couple of differences, we didn't get blown out by LSU and we didn't get blown out in our bowl game.

Great. We're reduced to gloating about margin of loss.

I'm not sure I'd call it gloating, but the scores are what they are.

Everyone on the board is acting like Penn State abused us like LSU did to Notre Dame and that's just not the case.
