I love this commitment. This one definitely fills a huge need with the LBs. 2012 is starting to look really good.

I think he looks a little thinner which isn't a bad thing then he does in his rivals picture but I also think he looks a little taller then 6'2". He may not have great cover skills right now but he appears to have excellent closing speed. Always looks like he's running down hill and explodes into the ball carrier. Highlights I know but I think Rivals has him graded to low.

Now we need Dalton to get on the horn and get a couple of DT's to come with him.............

The only thing I would have liked to have seen....Him to jump up, flip the table over and charge the camera screaming..."SEC...Dalton is coming fo yo ass"!!!!!

Now that would have been fun to watch. Then holds up four fingers and says with his face right in the camera "What you gonna do when Santos runs all over you!" Then closes with "Vol 4 Life!!!!!!!!!" Then the camera goes black.

Santos is in the mold of a true inside linebacker, something not exactly that common these days as a lot of guys play outside in high school and hope to make the move to the middle. He is good against the run as he plays downhill and with a mean streak that allows him to fill holes and stop running backs for no gain. He is strong as an ox and is able to take on blockers and shed them to get to the ball carrier.

I know Rivals has him rated lower than most other places but the big concern I have about him is his weight. I think I’m one of the few national analysts that have seen him in person and he was close to 250 when I saw him this offseason. He did not move very well in coverage at all. He struggled in pass coverage against not just running backs but also tight ends. He just was not able to change directions well due to the extra weight. I think there is a chance that he could be lining up at defensive end in a couple of years. Playing in a small classification in East Texas he does not have to go against the kind of talent he will see in the SEC.

If Santos can shed the bad weight he has the potential to move up in the rankings. It didn’t hinder him much this past season but if he tries to play at the weight at which I last saw him it will slow him down for sure this year. I will have plenty of opportunities to see him in person this year and he will have a chance to show he deserves to be ranked higher. I’m by no means saying he is a bad prospect as he is the highest-rated three-star inside linebacker but I’m just giving you guys the reasoning why he is not a four-star right now.

the relationship between sirmon and santos has grown by leaps and bounds. Santos credited sirmon's character and laid back nature as a key part of his decision.

"he's real down to earth and he's not going to bump around the curb," santos said. "i want him to work me like i'm a pro and work me like i'm an all-american. It's great for me to be around him. We have the same personality. He's been in the league and that's where i want to get in my career."

earlier this week, santos told volquest.com that he was leaning toward texas a&m. So what changed between now and then?

"i did a lot of thinking between now and then and i thought i just had to make the decision that was best for me," santos said. "the conference really put tennessee over the top. I really like coach dooley. The staff and players are really energetic to be around. I think coach sirmon and i get a long great."

Impressive that Sirmon had a good enough relationship with him to overcome the commitment push from Saban.

Sirmon is a legit big time coach.

I just hope we can keep him for a few years. He's going to be a star in the coaching world.
