If You Could Change the Outcome of One Play.........

I would like change a couple from the '92 season
Randall Waters Punt return for an TD
the 2pt conversion
and or the onside kick from the Arkansas game

and the failed 2pt conversion from the South Carolina

just think how different UTenn football history would be have those scenarios been completely different!

Shoot, negavols will always find a way to whine, BAN them all! Oh wait, does that mean I have to be banned too? Well, never mind. But seriously I don't want to go down that route.

What's with all the miami love. We could of handled miami. If nothing else, we would of done a better job than the huskers did.

Tennessee barely escaped Kentucky and lost at home to Georgia in 2001. They would have been crushed by Miami.

That's what makes the 2001 heartbreak easier. They would have met the best college football team I have seen in my lifetime.

Probably have to say the 09' Tebow 3rd & 14 run for a 1st down... We had so much momentum to win, and Tebow closed the game with that run..

Add on the Blocked FG against Bama.. Horrible call in the North Carolina game.. Last play in the LSU game in 10' ... INT thrown in the SEC title game against LSU near the end of the game....

WAYYYY to many plays I would change...

I would say the either fumble in the 2001 SECCG game or the 4th and goal call there.

And also tied for #1 would be the 1990 field goal against Alabama.

The Gaffney "touchdown" is in the mix.

The Ainge interception in the LSU 2007 SECCG.

I would have loved for Chuck Webb to have run out of bounds with 2 seconds left against Colorado in 1990.

The David Palmer two-point conversion in 1992.

In the Auburn 2004 game, although the first Riggs TD was called back, we ran the same play about two plays later and scored it, so the first is a wash.

Erik Ainge's INT returned for a TD was pretty pathetic in the 07 SECCG. He could not have made it any easier for the CB.

QFT and surprised it took so long for someone to say that. Our program needed that SEC Championship.

This is probably the most interesting topic I've read on this board. Plus, there have been some great answers given. For me, you have to look at key plays where UT, had they won the game, would've put them in position to win the conference or put them the national title hunt.

Someone mentioned the '92 Ark game. UT wins that game there is no way S. Carolina beats them. Bama only won 17-10 in Neyland and there would've been a re-match in B'ham.

Certainly the 4th down call at UF in '99. UT picks up the 1st down and goes on to win that game, they're back in New Orleans with a re-match against FSU.

2001, the Stallworth fumble sealed the deal against LSU. The squib kick against UGA had me screaming at the TV!

2004, the final play of the 1st half vs. ND. Sanders (or whoever called that play) should've been fired on the spot. Take a knee and go into halftime. Later that year, UT had Auburn on the ropes and played very undisciplined in the 2nd half of the SECCG.

2006, the pick 6 against UF as well as a couple of costly penalties cost UT the SEC title.

There are other plays mentioned that are heartbreaking as well. Thanks for the walk down misery lane!

Personally, it would have to be the last plays of both LSU 2010 and UNC 2010. Not the Field Goal mind you, but if they don't make up the rules as they go in the UNC game, we win the MCB. I think the LSU one is the one I want to change the most, mainly because it actually physically makes me uncomfortable thinking about the excitement I experienced when we won, and then the terrible pain I felt when we lost. That game could have gone a LONG way in motivating this team, aiding in recruiting, and getting us to a better bowl game, where the UNC call is null... Anyway... Just my opinion.

I have often wondered what would have happened in the 1996 Florida game if that fumble doesn't pop up into the Florida DB's hands and get run back for 6. That first quarter was a landslide for the Gators but we only lost by 6 points. That was the game when Fulmer could gave kicked 2 second quarter field goals but didn't because we were down by so much. If that play doesn't happen I think 96 turns out far differently.

I'm sure there is a ton if you really think about it but just off recent memory and since we are talking about changing just one play, I would choose Fat Cody blocking that FG in 2009. Would have not only gave us the win over bammer but possibly could have kept them outta the NC game.

I think that one is a good candidate.
