He went 9-0 with a 1.82 ERA for the Tigers for the rest of the season after that trade, then he made the All Star team the next year. The Tigers got what they needed out of him, so I would struggle to call that a bad trade, unless you want to call it a bad trade every time someone trades a prospect that ends up thriving for a veteran that fills a need.
