Hadn't thought of it that way. I think he was meaning that they are only taking one more but if it is the right recruit they may take a 3rd. Still think we have a great shot here.

I hope that Danny does not wait too long, if he is interested in Tennessee. Our offers are going fast!!!

He is one that doesn't have a timeline. He is that good, and high on our board.

Oh how I wish we were like the FSU's, Bama's, and Texas of the world. They pass on O'Brien types all day long. They have serious time lines for recruits and you wait a day and your spot could be gone. This is where I think we have had the most trouble. It seems we have to sit back and get what is left over after the major powers pick. That may partly explain why CDD is taking alot of under the radar type kids in this class. Maybe he does not feel that waiting on the bigger talent/ranked guys would be in our best interest.

Go be a fan of them then.

You haven't been taking your meds again have you?

I am 100% good to go!

I doubt anyone who is living in reality would consider us a current powerhouse in football. Our recruiting reflects that and it's obvious we are going have to take lower rated kids and try to build them up to compete. If CDD and staff can do it...the better talent will come in time.

A post with rational thought behind it. Keep it up please.

The first sign of denial. Not arguing whether or not we are a powerhouse, its the obnoxious way that you keep saying the same the over and over like we don't know by now that your not happy. We believe you. You can stop now please.

We aren't at this stage. If we win 8 games or so and have a double digit win season in 2012, it will be a completely different animal.

Tennessee sells itself to a degree. Tennessee, when winning, is a major recruiting powerhouse. The high expectations at FSU are helping sell that program as much as anything, imo.

Maybe he is real good at evaluating players, and doesn't worry about the recruiting sites biased BS. When DJ commits, maybe you will cheer up.

I didn't see anything negative in paces comment. Yer June reputation is hurting you here pace but that comment was pretty spot on. Until we get back to winning it will take more work to get top recruits. Good news is Dooley seems to do good work and has a Rep for finding under radar guys going back to lsu.

I have come to see that there are some on here who will try to turn anything negative even if it isn't. I think it makes them feel better and allows them to vent a little while they blame it on someone else. I'm ok with it. As long as they feel better....the world is better. :eek:lol:

Wishful thinking. Dooley does not possess some supernatural ability to evaluate players on a level that no other major college coach does. He's simply taking the best he can get right now. Some will work out, some wont. At the end of the day it's all a crap shoot anyway.

But you skew the odds of that crap shot in your favor when you get kids with character and good skills. Would you not agree?

I still very comfortable in saying that at the end of the day O'Brien will be a Vol.

The one comment that interested me is that he said Hoke keeps pressuring him to commit. I think, like Skeeter said, that if he keeps doing that and our staff just keeps recruiting him hard and letting him make his own decision that will help us.

The only factor is the best friend, but I think if O'Brien decides after another visit that TN is the right situation for him, I don't think his best friend will be a factor holding him back from making it.

Unless O'Brien takes 7 more trips to Knoxville, Dooley won't accept his commitment.

He needs one more from humphries. Hence the announcement and visit to get it officially out of the way!

That's true. I was just trying to point out that there's a very real reason why Dooley is taking so many apparent "diamonds in the rough" and I don't think its entirely by choice.

+1

It is easy to see we are in a tough spot in recruiting. Just look at the talk in almost every kids thread about how we are hoping either the team/s who we are recruiting against pass on a kid or fills up so he will pick us. If you look at our current commitments...it's tough to find a kid that we actually won a recruiting battle for to this point. We were in on Shanks but needed FSU and Bama to pass. It didn't happen. With O'Brien/Pipkins/Day it is discussed all the time how whichever ones Michigan does not take we may get. I do hope we can get some bigger name guys in the fold and maybe it will spark some interest before we fill up with project type kids.
