Why should Fulmer be fired?

But seriously if Hefney let the ball go what do you think would have happened? He had two guys behind him waiting for the ball to hit and they clearly saw the ball so it wasn't as if it was going to bounce into the endzone

He is a solid leader. Our team is constantly competitng year in and year out despite last seasons horrific record.

Does every coach succed year in and year out? No, the team is in a little flunk as of late. Is that any reason to want to fire our coach. No. Nobody wanted his head after '98, did we? Name me a program outside of USC and Ohio State who are in the top 5 every year?

Its typical nature, fire the coach, we get better. Prove it.

1) If we are competing, when was they last time we were in a BCS Bowl?
2) We were only two losses this year from matching last year's six losses!:banghead2:

I don't know where your getting the Aw Shucks attitude from, did you see Phil get after Heffney when he caught the punt inside the 5.
There was absolutely no emotion from the get go. we lost our most inspired players early in the year in Harrell and Johnson at that point it is the coaches responsibility to find that emotional back-up and get after them a little to get that player to inspire the rest of the team..

I agree Indy. I from the old school football. You close ranks after some setbacks and grit your teeth and come together even closer as a team.

Have a great night guys. The real life here at home is calling me. I've had fun debating the issue that runs most peoples life. Take care.

Team = players, coaches, supporting staff.

But sadly most put all the blame on the coach.
agreed, like i said earlier the coaches can teach the team to play but they can't play for them sometimes the team has to step up and do something for themselves and today they just didn't do it!!

Exactly! and the fact that Hefney just walked past his coach is a show of disrespect. His ass would have never seen the field for the rest of the day. When you dont have the respect of your players, then you are doomed to get uninspired play. It's time for a change and the excuse "who do we go and get"? is just that an excuse. if we need to step outside the Vol family to get someone in here with a my way or the highway attitude so be it. Maybe a little reality check is just what the doctor ordered. Saying that,if Bama does get Saban then lord help us all. with Spurrier getting the Cocks back on track and the possibility of Saban going to Bama then we could be on the ground looking up if drastic changes arent made.

i don't know if yal heard this or not but i heard coker was only supposed to sit out for one quarter and he returned a kickoff in the 2nd but fulmer did not let him take the field with the offense. So he is showing them whose boss but i'm sure he was not going to sit hefney after that. Not playing coker is what cost us the game. Do you think coker would have coughed that ball up?

I asked this in a another thread but I'm really curious as to why people want to see Fulmer fired? Will that automatically make us national championship material without him? I'm serious, I'd like to see a well thought explaination without the usual BS because talk.
I like Fulmer but I expect more wins. Our elite status has gone by the wayside.

Seems funny to me that most of the time when a coach gets fired and a new coach comes in then they suddenly do miraculous things with the former coaches players. To what do we attribute that? the players are there all along, and obviously the new guy gets something out of them the old guy could'nt. So yes I do blame the coach.

Let me let you in on a little secret coach, YOU PLAY TO WIN. You not only play to win in football, but life as well. Winning transends into sports and into life. Winning is the most positive of all things you can do as a person. It makes you BELIEVE. If you don't win, you don't believe alot of things on a positive note. Winning isn't everything, but its the ultimate goal in sports. If you want to mold young men and women into great individuals and you don't want to use sports, then be a guidance counselor not a coach. IF you are a coach then winning on the field or court is the entire reason you are there, you also command the same respect off of the field. Hence your players are student-athletes. They have to believe they are winners on both fronts, and if they win on the field most of the time in affects winning in the classroom as well.

and i hope you don't say Spurrier cause spurrier is a little different then just another new coach

It doesnt run my life, but in the same sense I am a coach myself and I will settle for no less than the best from my guys and if a guy wants to dog it then I will find someone that will give me their best. Tough love? YES! Commanding respect? Absolutely!

some of yal are just ridiculous i feel that we could have played in the national championship game and loss and some of yal would still be calling for fulmer's head haha.. anyone who thinks they can do a better job submit an application to the athletic dept :eek:lol:

Warren, I agreed with some of your remarks from your earlier statements but the more you write and comment the less I agree with you. The coach is ultimately responsible for the team success or failure just like a CEO is responsible for the success or failure of a company. When I coached, I didn't hold my players responsible for their preparation for games. It was my responsibility to prepare their skill development, individual assignments, tactics, motivation, scouting reports, etc. I as well as the other coaches were reponsible for preparing the players from day one until the season ended. You may have had some coaching experience as well so you may have input also. I am speaking from personal experience. I also know as a player from way back in the day I was always motivated as a player to be ready to play. My coach was a type of coach who knew how to motivate his players and he commanded respect and was a hard-nosed disciplinarian. When I watch the Vols play I see a lot of players who play with little emotion and less than acceptable discipline. From personal experience, if a player can't develp those attributes on his own, then the coach needs to instill the attributes in him

You have to be one of the "good ol' boys to even be considered. Did you not know that?:clapping:
