'12 JUCO DE Denico Autry (MSU signee)

I'm pretty sure he narrowed it down to those two before his visit this weekend. From what I read on VQ they both liked the visit and what UT had to offer. I just wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth, as they say.

If CDD is truly trying to rebuild the program you do it from ground up and not bring in a guy for the most 2 years. You create a foundation and build on it with players like J James. Yes JUCOs bring quick fixes but do not solve the problem long term.

JUCO may bring 1 or 2 more wins a season but if UT wants to get back to the top JUCOs will not do it alone. JUCOs are good when you have all of talent and you need a plug but as a cornerstone and I think UT would want a player that would be there atleast 3 years.Again JMO.

And before someone says what about AU with Cam and Nick lets not kid ourselves about all the other talent around them. Whcih will be very apparant this year with so much gone.

Disagree TW. Circumstance and situations vary w/ each program, in Tennessee's case, CDD's utilizing JUCO talent for a multitude of reasons none-the-which are more important than to address the teams youth and inexperience. CDD and Staff may not land every recruit (on their wish list) but they are bringing in players that they feel best fit the system. With regard to future (Tennessee) recruiting classes, Coach/Staff continuity and winning will attract better (position of need) talent while reducing the need for JUCO players.

Agreed. TW, don't you think you can do both? It would be like bashing Saban for bringing in Cody and Williams at the same time he was bringing in other NTs.

Denico and Damien would not have returned to their JC campus until late last night. This video was filmed on campus and it was in broad daylight so a logical conclusion that can be made was that this video was made sometime last week before his visit to Tennessee.I have asked that question of the Scout folks and have not received an answer yet.

Thanks Alex. Thought this couldn't be current. I know you have a lot of good info. You heard anything on your end about Autry or Jacobs?

Nothing more than what has been discussed on here.Peresonally I am dissapointed in Jacobs ....he appears to be on a big recruiting fishing foray to me and using Tennessee as the leverage to get more offers.Hope that observation is wrong.

Cody and Williams or other JUCOs have been brought in to fill gaps when needed, but not as main recruits. I think if CNS could he would avoid JUCOs, but sometimes you need 1 or 2. But what I was referring to is some schools bring in JUCOs to win at all costs. They focus their rebuilding or whatever around them. I do think they can help but not for long term stability of a rebuilding program. Especially if they are there for only 2 years. Do I think a few can help UT yes but not as much as a J James who can come in as a true freshman and be there for atleast 3 maybe 4 years to really help rebuild UT.

Again my opinion.
