Play in one of the biggest stadiums in college football. Play at a school that has some of the best facilities in college football (not to mention what UT is building for next year). Plus, let's not undermine what playing in the SEC means. He's playing against the best competition in the country every week, hands down. He will be best prepared for the NFL here. I could go on.

I'm sure A&M has some pluses here and there, too.

I agree whole-heartedly with the statement I bolded, but A&M will use Von Miller to their advantage to combat that.

I understand, I would too, but I'm biased. At A&M, he still gets coached by a former NFL player, he's close to Mom and Dad, and he gets the opportunity to play early. As far as the type of offenses go, the A&M staff will just tell him to look at how Von Miller benefitted from playing against Big 12 offenses. I call A&M here.

He's a totally different player than Miller. Miller was a pass rush specialist. This guy stuffs the run.

I cannot imagine in a million years the NCAA allowing this sort of advantage to any conference. I have a feeling a lot of schools might raise a question or 2...

Texas has their own channel. NCAA didn't do anything about that

Southwest has a direct flight to Nashville...quick drive from there...they may even have a direct to Knoxville...I'm not sure

The drive between Knoxville and Nashville is beautiful in the early fall. I'm sure that the Texans love their landscape. But they might enjoy seeing a bit of Tennessee.

Then CDD will pull up current UT LBs in the NFL. Just to throw it out there jerod mayo starter on the patriots.

Far cry from a school providing additional $ in scholarship money to be used for things such as parents' travel costs to games.

I bet UT, 'Bama, Florida, et al, could each have their own network if it was more lucrative to them as opposed to the ESPN or CBS deals.

We should use Jerod Mayo.

He is a pretty damn good run stuffing NFL linebacker if you ask me. He obvioulsy does more as well.

Not to be a downer but I don't think Dallas has a nonstop to Nashville. Houston and San Antonio do. And I don't believe Knoxville has Southwest flights. But his family could still get to Nashville from Dallas with a stop in Houston, San Antonio or New Orleans.

However, American Airlines has nonstop flights from Dallas to Knoxville and Nashville.

When Texas is airing HS games and then their exclusive channel you don't think that is as bad as providing a little extra money? I do. Different categories however its an advantage in recruiting that other schools don't have. SEC, big 10, PAC 10 networks are fine IMO. Not a single school.

If this kid plans on playing in the league then at some point he won't be close to home. I am sure this has crossed their mind. Proximity to home will be a factor, but IMO if he chooses TAMU it will be because he just liked it better there. Not because of distance.

i thought the same thing. i think he is trying to get every conference to do it and if not and we can do it that would only increase the appeal.

Well, if the NCAA approves this and other schools/conferences opt out, so to speak, then all's fair in love and war.

Of which recruiting is remarkably similar to both...
