Bama will end up not having room, Kwon Alexander will take the final LB spot for Alabama.

I don't see him ending up outside the SEC, so you could probably put the SEC teams at the top and call them even, but I think Arkansas is the only SEC school he has visited(Maybe completely wrong on that), so I might give them the slight edge.

I might not

Sounds plausible but I would only give Arkansas the edge due to being closer to home. TN and FL have a shot.

How can arkansas b better than UT ? Come on now. Big deal he visited u guys 1st. So u guys lead now. Sorry it takes alot more than. Our coaching staff is better, not 2 mention early plan time, also our new weightroom. Be honest with urself what can arkansas offer Santos?

That was tough to get through...only thing I can think of is that it is a much much much easier drive from east TX to Arkansas than it is to East TN. Also Arkansas did just play in the Sugar Bowl....but we obviously have the edge in facilities and tradition.

I dont think distance plays factor here. IMO I think it comes down early PT,coaching staff, comfort level n also athletic facilities

I agree that our coaching staff is excellent, but I think many people outside of the UT faithful (and even many inside it) will disagree that Dooley and staff are better than Petrino and company.

Arkansas is building new facilities as well.

Have to say, though, that IMO Santos is among the most important of our recruits this year.

I feel that we have a better defensive coaching staff. Offensively Petrino is in a league of his own. I feel he's the best offensive coach in the country. If I were a big-time skill player I would go to Arky (outside of the Vols of course). But on defense I feel Santos would fit in our scheme a lot better than Arkansas. Arkansas has a smallish speed style of defense. Santos needs to come be part of this big rugged SEC style defense. AJ Johnson, Harris, and Santos at LB sounds good to me. With Jac Smith, Maggitt, and Jordan Williams coming off the edge. All we're missing is DTs for some nasty front seven action. Come on down to Tennessee Santos we need ya!!!

No argument here, and I think you've hit the nail on the head.

I just wonder what the perception of our staff is outside of VN. One would tend to think that given Petrino's winning track record (in college, anyway) that he would win by default. Hopefully Santos agrees with your synopsis (and DesertVol) that Wilcox is among the elite DC's in the country. Texas thinks so. I also think Sirmon is a rising star in the coaching community. He's got my respect, anyway.

I would say Bama,UT then Arky. I truely dont see why anybody would play for Petrino. You never know how long hes going to be there and leave for the next best opportunity. He has to be one of the most crooked, cutthroat coach's in FB. I can see why a school like ARKY or Louisville would hire him but no way would any big time school hire this man. I know AU was close, but they needed a guy like him and Gene that were yes men to keep things funneling on the plains. Just ask the Chaplain and Dye,LOL..

When asked of his top five schools, Santos even narrowed things by one, including Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Tennessee.
Scout.

Confirmed he plans to camp at Tennessee this month.

Great news and great find, Fingers. Once again bringing the solid information.

This is not only great news because UT made his Top-4.

This is great news because Santos has on multiple occassions stated that he would like to play SEC football. He then gives a Top-4 of UT, Bama, OU, and A&M. There are 2 SEC schools out of that list of 4. So theoretically UT could be seen as in Santos' Final-2 schools.

Would be huge. Santos is a beast LB and would literally come right in and get serious PT as a LB at UT. It will be hard to overtake Alabama because I think they are the favorite ATM, but it can be done.

Excited for good news here after camp.

I thought Arky had the edge here? :eek:lol: Silly piggy...

“The linebackers coach Peter Sirmon, we have had a pretty good relationship and keep in contact on Facebook," said Santos, who resides in Van, Texas.

“You want someone that has had the experience of playing in the (NFL). That is a big thing sure.”

“They have a lot of tradition there. They are getting back up, back on the rise again and getting their way back up the rankings. They have a bunch of good things going for them and I am sure I will have more to see when I get down there.”

“The SEC is a big factor for sure,” Santos said. “If you can play against the kids in the Southeastern Conference you can play anywhere. You can play on Sundays that is for sure.”

“(Distance) was a big factor at first, but I have to say it’s really not a factor anymore. I just want to go where I am happy. If that means I am eight or nine hours away from home then so be it,” he said

“Absolutely, (early playing time) is a big thing for me. I want to get out on the field early and show what I can do,”

Santos also wants to try & be an EE.
