Best Pizza in Knoxville area

Pizza Inn used to be great-- not many left-- anyone remember Shakey's Pizza & ye olde public house??? Great in their days- I think there are only 3-4 left in the whole U.S.- How is the Mr. Gatti's in Pigeon Forge?

I agree that the Pizza Inn used to be great pizza. The owner of the chain was murdered by his wife a few years back and ever since then the quality has gone down hill big time.

My favorites are Dazzo's in Knoxville, Big Ed's in Oak Ridge, and Metro Pizza in Maryville.
Barley's is also pretty fun, just because the pizza is good and they have a solid beer selection.

Big Ed's is pretty good, but Mellow Mushroom is by far the best.

Stefano's was the best, by far, when I was there. Tuesday afternoon buffets became the reason for working out 3-4 times a week

pizza palace was terrible today for lunch. first time there, and it will be the last.

Big Eds is by far 100x better....and actually, that dumpy little italian pizza by the slice thats next to the dollar movie isnt a terrible piece of cheese pizza.

The Pizza Hut on Broadway.

Jesus man, you got to get out more often...that is like saying McDonald's has the best burgers.

Give me any pizza that Barley's produces with a tall Sam Adams to wash it down with and I'm good.

Mellow Mushroom is very good as well, a little over-priced though.

Little Joe's is my favorite. Couple miles west of Farragut. My dad and I would go there every week when I was a youngin. Make sure to order breadsticks and the meat sauce. It's sooooo good. I could eat that by iteself. But save room for the pizza. It's very good. I liked big ed's but I think Little Joe's is better.

Just had a Papa Murphy's Pizza today here in Utah. I would suggest trying one in the area. They are my favorite.

Chandlers fried chicken, mac and cheese cant be beat. Went to Pizza Palace twice last month. Pizza was very good, spaghetti was plentiful and amazing. Onion rings were ok, kinda bland tho.

My favorite from back in the day was the buffet at Antonios. It was on the Strip right next to Stefano's (parking on the roof). Great pizza and Antonio's daughters were all hot (waitresses).

No, and the atmosphere is even worse. Unless you like crunchy hippies. But that doesn't sound like you Grizz.

If you want better pizza go across the street to Oscars or Mellow Mushroom.

You're telling people to avoid hippies by going to Mellow Mushroon? First time for everything I suppose.

Dave, I remember Shakeys on Kingston Pike. Used to go there as a kid with "the fam", and they would often have some live music. Btw, the Pizza Inn that is now open on Clinton Hwy is not bad. The staff is very good about asking exactly what you'd like on the buffet and getting it out. Not one of my personal favorites, but enjoyable.

As far as actual favorites based upon taste, and not necessarily atmosphere, I am partial to Stefano's. I enjoy the white crust better than the whole wheat, but I might be in the minority. Their sauce is a bit sweeter than most, which makes it a little unique. I also like Harby's and think it's a solid choice. Elidio's is my favorite thin crust around town, the true type you can just fold over. Big Ed's is still pretty tasty, but it's gotten a little pricy by comparison to others. Of course, they do give you all that extra grease and they brown bag it along with the leftovers. Pizza Palace is a nice alternative on occasion.

Just as commentary, I get a kick out of people that say "that place has terrible pizza", when referring to very popular spots. Just because someone doesn't like it, does not make it terrible. I don't enjoy Tomato Head's pizza, but it sure has a lot of fans. Just a matter of personal taste.

I'll give a second shout out to Little Joe's on Kingston Pike just west of Farragut. Saw it in here and decided to try it; Awesome pizza. A lot of reviews online say it was dirty and the employees are inattentive, but neither was the case when I went.
