I have a Tivo season pass for Real Time. I do think he is funny. New Rules is hilarious. I do wish that he would lay off the anti-all religion stuff. He is much funnier than Dennis Miller. Miller is not funny at all to me.

This was the basic series of events

1. Matt and Trey satirize religions on the reg
2. Matt and Trey satirize Scientology, of which Isaac Hayes is a paying member
3. Isaac Hayes says he likes Matt and Trey because they are basically equal-opportunity satirizers
4. Isaac Hayes says it's not cool that they satirize religions because Matt and Trey get their facts wrong, then people believe it and become bigots
5. Isaac Hayes leaves South Park
6. Matt and Trey have Chef's farewell
7. Matt and Trey have Chef return when "that fruity group (Super Adventure Club = Scientology) scrambles his brain"

They wrote him off the show. The next time you see Chef, he's a child molester with a messed up voice (because Isaac Hayes is no longer employed by Matt and Trey)

Sorry, I was wrong about that. They start the season by showing Chef leaving and explaining he was gone for awhile, it wasn't a separate episode.

He's not a libertarian on all social issues. Just on the social issues the libertarians share with the liberals.

I wouldn't agree. I'm more of a many shades of gray type. Very little is as black and white as most think, imo.

That happens with conservatives as well as liberals.

Sure it's shades of gray and I can live with that. It's the people that want the labels without the ideology that drive me nuts . . . such as Maher claiming to be Libertarian basically so he can smoke pot while defending Obamacare.

Point taken, but I would characterize national healthcare about as much of an economic issue as a social issue.

Yeah, that's what I don't get. I'm all about principle though, and maybe other people aren't. If freedom is the best answer when it comes to social issues, why on earth is not the best answer when it comes to economic issues (and vice versa)? It's inconsistent, IMO.

I mean, the rationale from social liberals is, "I don't want some moralistic aristocrat telling me what I can and can't do. It's my life." That's the same thing business owners are saying.

Maher pisses me off. I've heard him say some of the most historically inaccurate garbage. Like when Obama was running he said..."Republicans start wars. We elect Democrats to end their wars." And the crowd went crazy.
