John King is annoying - he makes these little "uh" sounds while listening to each answer and editorializes far too much.

Pawlenty is doing pretty well (as far as I'm concerned).

Bachmann is doing pretty well too.

Gingrich did fairly well, too. I can see him as a SecState, UN Ambassador, or even VP, but his presidential aspirations are toast.

I get heartburn from candidates like Bachmann claiming the sanctity of life from "conception to death". It seems that only religious zealots consider a fertilized egg/zygote "life".

I disagree. First, I wouldn't hire Gingrich for anything. Second, I'm far from a religious zealot, but a zygote is definitely alive.

I thought they all presented their case well

I thought Cain looked bad here:

YouTube - ‪CNN: Herman Cain explains stance on Muslims‬‏

Also, the moderators piss me off. They'd ask Ron Paul a question about a topic leading into multiple elements and then they'd try to cut him off or make him stick to the original subject. Like when they asked him about illegal immigrants getting welfare and free health care, and so he addressed government benefits in general and they tried to make him stick to the subject of immigration. It's stupid.

Yeah King was disappointing as a mod. He kept on with this little interrupting noise throughout a candidate's answer. Either interrupt with a word or stay quiet. It was really annoying.

He also tried to start a smackdown between Pawlenty and Romney. It was clear in the post debate analysis they had decided Pawlenty went after Romney on Sunday and they wanted more. When Pawlenty took a less confrontational route they said he was weak, timid and blew an opportunity. Talking about manufacturing the news.

LOL. I liked this part:

As a postscript to the story, CNBC asked for a tour of Fort Knox to film the gold, since our only footage of Fort Knox is from 1974. An official at the Mint told us that not he was not aware that any member of Congress had toured the facility since that year. Fort Knox is "a closed facility," the official said.

And $15 million? There's gotta be a more efficient way to conduct the audit.

Going back to watch this and see if there's a snowball's chance in hell I can get behind any of these candidates.

Jon Hunstman is going to announce his intention to run. I don't know much about him except that he's moderate and looks like Colin Cowherd. Will be interesting to see how he turns out.

I'll give him a shot but he passed on this debate and decided not to go to Iowa at all. Sounds like the Guiliani strategy that bombed.

Out of curiosity what will you watch to see if you can get behind Obama?

I know what I haven't liked -- The campaigns in the ME, significant portions of the ACA (though I still view it generally as a step in the right direction). Not that I've reflected it much on here, but I do consider myself a proponent of smaller federal government. Not to the extent of many on here, but I am. It's a much more effective form of government. There's other more secondary things I'm a general fan of, like subsidized, private non-profit secondary education.

At the same time, though, I'm for:

- Universal health care via mandate
- Pro-choice
- Marijuana legalization
- Gay marriage (in an equal rights capacity at least)

I won't lie. If you put a gun to my head right now for 2012, I'm probably going to vote for Obama again, but I legitimately want to keep my mind open. While there are some platforms of the Republican party that I actually like, I feel too disconnected in general to see myself voting for them, esp. if it's going to come down to Romney, Pawlenty or Bachmann.

Who is your favorite politician? Who is your ideal president?

Pawlenty and Romney aren't that socially conservative. Bachmann definitely is.

What bugs me with Romney is the fact that he's distancing himself from the mass health care reform, yet it seems to be a big success.

It may be a function of politics, but the R's are behind the 8 ball to get elected here, and whenever they answer a question it's always in the framework of Obama and the dems and then explaining why. It's backasswards, but that's politics...

Gonna go find the debate online.
