Severe Weather Thread

i meant east, not west. terrible. countvol is this the worst year recorded for severe tornadoes?

It is reaching that potential. As of the Joplin tornado, we had reached the mark previously held in 1953.

1925 was the worst with 794 deaths

However, there wasnt near the advanced warning then, but also not near the population density in these areas.

I would say if the warning conditions were the same now, as back in the 20's, 30's, 50's, with todays population density, we would see the death toll in the thousands by now

n 2003, 1,376 tornadoes were reported in the United States. The year also had one of the largest tornado outbreaks within a concentrated time-frame with 412 tornadoes reported between May 1st and May 10th.

We're getting some pretty interesting weather in DFW right now.

We actually had 2-3 tornadoes last year. Which means I've been through more earthquakes than tornadoes in my life here.

Nowhere near conditions like you folks have for twisters though.

Any Tornado Warnings?

Keep your head low

We've had some tornados touch down in the area, but I have been lucky. We had some decent sized hail and we have no power right now.

Kids are sleeping in our interior "safe room" and my wife and I are sitting here listing to weather radio. I am checking out the radar on my phone. I think the worst is behind us

Wettest year in Colorado in 20 years. La Nina years aren't usually like this, but every once in awhile...

Whats the difference than a typical La Nina? The jet stream staying farther north on the pacific end than typical?

Trying to visualize the loop that would make a wet Colorado, I think that's right...

This system has me worried considering West TN will be in the epicenter tomorrow evening.

I hope not. I have to drive up to McKenzie tomorrow. I guess I'll book it home if there seems to be anything building in east Arkansas.

Me neither. Dr. Forbes has West TN's TorCon at 8/10 for tomorrow and usually Dr. Forbes is spot on. He had Tuscaloosa, Al and Yazoo City, MS both at 9/10 on the days of those two outbreaks.

Thanks for that heads up. I will definitely get home a little early tomorrow.

Why would you go to McKenzie on purpose?
Work (at Bethel). Trust me, if I didn't have to, I wouldn't be there. lol
