They are supposed to be improving them and that says a lot. I got a cousin by marriage who helps coach up there. His name is DeMarco McNeil."

He also says that early PT is very important and he likes that he could have that opportunity at UT.

All these DT want early playing time and UT has had terrible DT depth the last few years yet somehow they still don't end up here. DT recruiting seems to be our achilles heel, hopefully that will change this year. O'Brien would be a great start.

We need to pull one or two bama kids a year. Our best teams had Bama kids sprinkled on the roster. We'll have to be able to go in and beat Saban for a couple year in and year out.

If the staff can pull Shanks out of Alabama my confidence in them will go way up. This kid would be a HUGE pull out of that state.

Especially considering Prattville is right in the middle of Tuscaloosa and Auburn (about an hour away from either) so it's not like they can sneak right over the line to Muscle Shoals (Jason Allen) or Athens (Wes Brown) and snag him.

Never hurts to make inroads to a top 10 high school program either.

I agree. That State Down South has some good football players. If we can become much more of a factor and kick Saban and Chizik's tails up and down the state in recruiting.

IMO Auburn will be more of a factor than Saban. Prattville is close to Auburn location wise. But I think we can pull him with a relative on the staff and him wanting PT. I'm going to go check him out in person this fall maybe once or twice(it's about an hour drive from me). I think we'll pull this guy when it's all said and done. Nobody can sell him what we can which is a young talented team, big time program in the SEC, and an immediate shot at quality PT. Auburn has some good young DL but they aren't real talented on offense. Plus the violation news is rolling down here. Alabama has depth on the DL and everyone knows that.

"That one meant a lot to me," Shanks said. "It's special coming from a high-profile team and all. I talked to [Trojans assistant] Ed Orgeron. He's been recruiting me hard. He's supposed to be here Monday for our first spring practice."

"This summer, I want to check out LSU, Florida State and Ole Miss," Shanks said. "I'll probably use USC as an official."

Shanks said Miami and Oregon also are being considered for official visits.
