Kevin Ware has officially asked to be released from his LOI

I hear you, it's not like him showing up would get us in the tourney next year. Hit the road, choad.

Why do people feel the need to villify a kid who wants out of a LOI that he signed after being recruited by Pearl and then being assured by Hamilton that Pearl would still be here to coach him? Every time this comes up, people act like it's the first time a kid has asked out after a coaching change. It's just something that comes with the territory, so you may as well deal with it.

Seen the VolsNationBLOG and I wanna take the time to thank all of the fans behind me with what I'm doing. Hate everything had to go this way

Was loyal to my commitment but its been stressful on me going threw all this so I decided to open my recruitment back up.

At the same time depending on what coach comes in I can definately consider UT again. Its a great atmosphere

.

He can enjoy himself elsewhere.

If you dont want to be a Vol because of a coach, more power to you to find a new coach to play for elsewhere.

dont release him period.but if do stipulate that he cant sign with anyone else in sec or acc,big east, big twelve and no d1 school in georgia

If I were in his shoes, I'd do the same thing. How can you have a priori school spirit? When you're not a storied program, your players usually sign up for your coach. Guess what, guys...

UT basketball is as relevant as Kentucky football.

Oh!!!! I get it.

It's cool when Kevin Ware wants to not be here when his coach his gone, but Bryce Brown deserves to have his ACL torn when his coach left and he didn't want to be here anymore. Gotcha.

Gotta love this hypocrite fan base.

Oh!!! That makes it better. Bryce was enrolled here, his coach lied to him, and left.

Kevin Ware knew this could happen, but still signed the LOI.

What happened to "You sign for the program, not the coach" talk I kept hearing for months with Brown?

:)

I don't fault the kid at all. Hammy told him Pearl would stay, now Pearl's gone. Why not explore your options?

Personally, I don't think the Bryce Brown situation is comparable. BB was already invested in the program and the program was invested in him. But that's JMO.

Let's be fair. Anybody who doesn't think the situations are similar feel that way because of their views of the coach in question and his respective exit from Knoxville.

Should be up to the new coach, IMO. If Hamilton goes this route, he allows the parties to have a cooling off period while he hires a coach and then gives the new coach a chance to convince them to stay.

Before Tennessee releases him, I'd make him meet with the new coach first. If he chooses not to, I wouldn't release him. We should get the first shot at re-recruiting him. If he meets with the new coach, and still want the release, release him, provided he doesn't sign anywhere else in the SEC.

Just my opinion.

If you force him to stay, he won't stay. Being cordial to the recruits now makes it much more possible that they come back. Treat them like garbage and they, as well as any other future recruits, will automatically have a bad taste in their mouth regarding how we plan to treat our athletes.

In any collegiate sport, if the coach is fired then the school should grant all requested releases. The coaching staff does the recruiting and when you sign a LOI it shows you believe in the coach and his staff.

Sadly same thing happened to me with my recruiting of baseball out of high school. I was committed to a school and the coach was fired and this is what my dad told me " at these big schools the programs are pretty similar. The field and court are the same size and dimensions and the balls are the same." The coaching staffs is one of the biggest things that seperates one school from another.

Yes its disappointing that they want out of their LOI but at least wait and see who the coach is. The school had to be appealing to you in the first place

Exactly.....and the E.E.'s when Kiffin bounced like a B!TC# everyone was like they signed to play for Tennessee not Kiffin....they are VOLS whether they like it or not. Well played sir....very well played :good!:

Get your  In UT or get your A** out......simple..If you want to come here for an education and play ball earning it, we'd love to maybe have you...Otherwise, commit to a coach, not a school....Don't wear school colors, wear coaches choice of business suit..

I posted this in the other thread, so I may as well post it here:

Jones and Ware should both be let out of their LOI's. Hopefully they'll stay at Tennessee with the new coach, but they shouldn't be forced to.
