Bruce Pearl is out as basketball coach

I will certainly miss Pearl...He made basketball exciting again, but this isn't the end of the world folks...He brought this upon himself...It's time to move on and find us another coach..Just calm down people

Pearl was arguably a top 10 coach in America and arguably the number 1 in terms of PR and Marketing. In order for Tennessee Basketball to do well we need a great Marketable coach that is well recieved around the country because Tennessee Basketball doesn't have the tradition to sell itself like a Carolina. Look at the so called candidates were looking at Mooney and Shaka. Those guys couldn't hold a candle to what Pearl does. Trust me people are gonna face the harsh truth of that in the next couple of years. I hope that doesn't happen but most likely it will.

Let them. Im telling the truth im a Freshman at ut and most everyone i know agrees. My whole life i never knew basketball at ut existed.

Yes UT is. Caused solely by Bruce Pearl and staff. By UT distancing themselves from him those sanctions will not be as harsh.

Hamilton needs to go!

You punish a guy when the violation occurs. You don't suspend him 8 games, dock his pay, publicly support him, then castrate his team 2 days before the NCAA tournament. UT just went through a year long public relations fiasco for nothing. Fantastic leadership Hammy! You deserve a raise!

Don't be so literal. My 76 year old grandfather (life long UT bball fan) said that Bruce was once in a lifetime for UT, I hate Duke but Coach K is a basketball god. 900 wins, Olympic Gold Medal, 2 time World Champ coach, 4 NCs and 11 Final Fours. I've agreed with most of the stuff you've said today but this one was a bit asinine.

Poor soul. You missed UT's best players of all time. King, Ellis and Grunfeld. YOu should be upset with your father for not properly educating you on UT's basketball history. Ray Mears coined the phrase, "Big Orange Country".

It seems that most of the people claiming they didn't know UT basketball existed before Bruce Pearl were maybe in high school at the time he was hired. We have had great success with Bruce I wish him the best where ever he lands. He was a quality coach. The fact is our facilities have improved, our recruiting has improved, and our status as a basketball program(minus the sanctions) has improved while he has been here. This will make it easier on the next guy and should make it easier to hire the next guy. Our basketball program has been well funded while Bruce was around and that has a lot to do with our success. Hopefully the new administration will continue this trend and not starve the basketball program in favor of football. Thanks Bruce and good luck.
