Stop all the arguing; just answer two questions

No, Pearl will be out of a job because he lied about a stupid little violation then cried on tv...then knowingly committed another violation. Good grief, I cannot believe the ignorance of some people thinking that all of this is happening because Pearl grilled out for some recruits. You think Aaron Craft reported this because there was no pork at the cookout? No, it's because it wasn't legal. Also, don't forget the illegal phone contact.

OH! And then he told the recruits and parents to lie about it, also! So he f'ed up, lied, told recruits to lie, cried, then f'ed up again. He dug his own grave.

which is not much different than jim tressel.

i have not even heard of any university crying foul about bruce pearl or his recruiting tactics. no one.

not one SEC school issued a complaint to the league office. not one coach across the country has said they aren't surprised because pearl is one cheatin' son of a gun.

he did this to himself, there is no question.

but, there should be some perspective on where this would rank in terms of sinful behavior by a coach or an ncaa institution.

Tell me something, why would any coach go public and say Pearl is a cheater when it's already known? The NCAA thinks this is big enough to potentially sanction us, then it's big enough for me to be pissed about and want Pearl gone.

for the second part, i understand.

for the first part, plenty of people spoke out about mike debose, lane kiffin, john calipari, etc, etc, etc, before they were in any trouble whether they were investigated or not.

I never heard anyone publicly speak out to the media about Kiffin or Calipari. What did I miss?

You think Pearls situation is worse than what Tressel did?

No, but both are being investigated - so what Pearl did is serious enough.

No one is doubting that, but if you can't see the difference in how the media is reacting to each situation then you're not paying attention.

what pearl did is a joke. oh sorry we had a guy over for some bbq. srry i didn't tell the whole truth. but you don't worry J. Calipari and others aren't payin for players, no need to worry about them.

i agree.

but, you watch. tressel will keep his job and the ncaa will not punish him as harshly as pearl.

pearl will be out of a job because he lied about a cookout. a damn cookout.

this is not to excuse pearl who should be punished.

but, it was a flippin cookout.

actually he lied about illegal contact with multiple recruits

First off, I don't even LIKE the NCAA. They're a bunch of idiots. Secondly, Pearl has broken no laws. Nothing he did would get him sentenced to prison. Lying is not a good trait, but it is not illegal. Has any of you NEVER lied? Has any of you never wished you could have a do over in life? Get off you "holier than thou" attitude and come back down to earth! You are acting like he was a serial killer for Christ sake!

oh my, that's so terrible

no one said it was terrible but it can lead to termination

there aren't many NCAA rules that would get you arrested but there are many that will get you fired. Trying to claim "well he didn't murder anyone" is pretty weak

Who gives a ****? He broke the rules and got caught. Calipari hasn't, so UK isn't up for sanctions.

you want to make this such a big deal, when its really nothing. fyi every coach at every level breaks the rules.

how many get letters from the NCAA outlining their major violations? Of that number how many are able to keep their job?

i think its stupid. here is why, i've read many posters talk about how pearl needs to be gone now and that way we can get a good coach. here's the thing regardless if pearl is gone or not i don't believe it will change the ncaa's decision on the post season ban for a year or 2. with sanctions possibly coming what coach would want to come to TN? ppl say oh we have great facilities, which is true, but hell how'd that work out during the fball coaching search? no big names landed, but yet we have awesome facilities.

hiring a bball coach in March is different than hiring a fball coach in January

1. See what the NCAA says about Pearl. It is possible that Slive did enough to dodge a hammer. It is tough to face double jeopardy with punishment already meted out ... it wasn't a "in house" or voluntary suspension. It was SEC.
2. Fire Hamilton. PERIOD.

It's just as stupid to say that no good coaches will want to come to UT as it is to say that Bob Knight will take the job.

you must have completely missed my point. with possible sanctions coming what good coach will come? everyone talks about how great those facilities are, but a coach wont come just for facilities. again look at our fball coaching searches
