Stop all the arguing; just answer two questions

Everyone saying Pearl should be fired needs to take a look in the mirror. Are you serious, the man told a lie and came clean. Who cares why he came clean but he did in front of the whole world. Get off your high horses and give the man a break unless you've never lied in your life.

I am teacher, 4th grade, so the issue of lying comes up all the time. If someone lies you cannot fully trust them again, ever. No matter how hard you try, you always know he lied and may do it again. Pearl will never be fully trusted ever again. I would not want my son to play for a coach who basically looked the NCAA in the eye and lied, and then he asked the people involved to help him cover it up.

CBP made a mistake......he knows his future could be over because of this. If UT gives him another chance, I think, human nature being what it is, he works his tail off from here on out and would be better than any coach we could hire. Hammy is fairly new to this job. He makes mistakes as well. Tell them both this is thier last chance. One more and there's no negotiating......they're gone.

He knew that at the weepy press conference. It did not stop him from the bump violation. Why would he stop now?

1. Could go either way-on one hand I believe in second chances, thank god I was given a second chance and the other hand looks like he is suspended for a year anyway so he has to go.

2. Hamilton sucks he should of never picked kiffin. He should of gotten an experienced coach in the first place then he picks a coach who we have never heard of dooley. Yes I support Dooley we have to. He's our coach. Hamilton should be let go as AD and made to be a fundraiser.

Before the bump violation keep Pearl, after the bump violation fire Pearl. I like him as our coach, but to make that press conference about being sorry for lying to the ncaa and looking so sad and then go out and commit another violation within a week is just wrong. He is a scum bag. As for Hamilton fire him too.

Agree :twocents:

1. If his suspension is one year-no. If it's two years, there is no choice but to let him go.

2. No. Other than the poor choice of words during the recent interview, he has done fine I think in the boil of extreme circumstances that no one could have predicted.

If he is suspended at all he has to go. UT needs a coach

Give Hamilton a chance to move into a fundraiser only role (even if you have to make the position). Put Condredge in charge.

Let Pearl defend himself in front of the NCAA as UT's coach then make your decision.

I, for one, will be extremely pissed if we fire Pearl and then watch the Tressel situation play out only to see the NCAA say the five gm suspension is enough. The lie was bad but let's keep the deed in perspective. In every other case that a lie has resulted in the coach being fired, it had to do with some type of monetary gain either for coach or players. In BP's case, a potential player was fed food off campus a year earlier than was allowed. We didn't even get the kid so there was no personnel gain and definitely no monetary gain.
The NCAA may crack Tressel's head but I doubt it (too big to fail comes to mind). Meanwhile, Bruce has already been suspended eight meaningful games and got a 1.5 mill pay cut. The man has been punished thoroughly for throwing those extra couple of steaks on the grill.

The only thing that would change my perspective on that is if there is something we don't know about already that is major.

Either way, Hammy is a loser as AD.

Sorry...tried to get a laugh.

1) Do what we did this year or 2) another assistant.

1) Though it was sometimes hard to tell, he coached this year. How would you propose he do that being suspended 1 or 2 years?

2) Putting the program in the hands of one of his assistants for 1 or 2 years; does that really make sense to you?

1. I'll wait until all the info is out on the bump violation before deciding on this. I do think we can make a great hire if he goes and I don't think he is the end all "messiah" of UT bball (although I have greatly enjoyed his time here)...on the other hand I'm getting sick of all the moralizing and grandtstanding about this. This guy was hired to win games. Same as Tressell or anybody else. (Does anybody REALLY think Tressell will be fired for what seems like a far worse transgression?) He was not hired to lead the free world or cure cancer. What he did is just not that big of a deal to me. Every president since I've been alive has lied...trading arms to some of the worst human beings on the planet for political reasons, raising taxes after promising not to, getting a bj in the oval office, reasons for entering a war etc.. many of those lies have resulted in actual loss of human life. On the moralistic scale, a guy hired to be a coach of a game telling a lie about having a kid to a cookout and then coming clean just doesn't do it for me. Perspective is sorely lacking in this debate.

2. Yes, I don't think his job performance is acceptable.

No and Yes, that simple. Bump rule was an incredibly minor secondary violation and not all the info on that is out yet. Fire Butch Davis, Jim Tressel and Jim Calhoun, then I will show Pearl the door.
