The Runner's thread

I've never owned a pair of brooks, but I know a few people who wear them. They all had nothing but good things to say about them! I'm a fan of asics.

My last two pair have been Asics Gel Kayano. I'll likely make the next one the same. Good stability for my flat feet and over-pronation.

Yeah, I'm looking for something that will provide the most comfort. I'm not looking for something to set a blazing time with. Would you recommend them?
Liked them, but they are very firm, almost orthopedic. I don't mind firm, but I run I Kayanos now and find them more comfortable but provide plenty of stability. Most of my issues are about arch and I deal with that using inserts. Adidas shoes actually tend to fit my arches best. Some of their higher end shoes work for me and are pretty firm. I use their straight up runners for off road.

3 mile run at sunset on the lake with a full moon. beautiful.

I think trail running would be something I enjoy. It would be hard to find a place around here, though.

They have a lot of good trails online and if you look it up they have some local trail clubs. It is awful flat there though.

Awesome. And you said that it helped with shin splints? That's my biggest problem

They did but break them in slowly. It takes time getting used to them. Lyls suggestion is good too.

Just got done with a 2 mile run. 18:56

The 25 mph wind on about 1/4 of my run slowed me down a bit. It was equivalent to running up a hill.

And when you double down and climb the hills into a gale, it's time to quit.

Running into the wind is hard. Cycling into the wind down right sucks.

Went to outer banks in the fall. rode one day and felt awesome, averaging 25-30 mph. thought wow I'm strong. Turned around and realized I now had a 25 mph headwind. Ride home was awful.

When I had shin problems, I finally learned I was running with a heel strike stride. I then switched to a mid to fore front foot stride and it hepled a lot.
