BREAKING NEWS: Janzen Jackson withdraws from school. (merged)

What is the point of the VFL program, if you can only be a Vol with no problems? We need to look at ourselves before we criticize Janzen. What if he couldn't balance this problem and school, and decided it was best to take care of it... so that when/if he comes back, he can play this fall instead of being academically ineligible? Janzen has given us 2 years, and I believe he should be given at least the sring and summer to get his problems under control. Remember, Vol for LIFE..... not Vol for MOST OF THE TIME!!!!!!!!

What on earth does that have to do with anything? I don't recall seeing Hunter or Bray returning punts either. They also didn't fill in at DT, so they must suck.

Your claim that it is not "even close" is about a guy that couldn't even nail down a job.

Alright. I'm done with this pointless argument. I'm happy and hopeful to have all of them for 2011, but continue thinking Hunter and Bray are better players right now, myself and the entire coaching staff will continue to disagree. JJ is the best player on our roster.

If JJ stays clean, he is a 1st round draft pick. If the same becomes of #8 and #11, I think we'll all be ecstatic, but they have a ways to go first.

Darn you got me. I'd take Justin Hunter over him easily. Bray will also prove to be worth more although it is a little unfair because QB is the most critical position on the field.
You'll have to admit my debating skills are second to none. :p

If you don't think JJ was UT's best player in 2010 (possibly by miles), you either don't know the first thing about football or you're lying to yourself to soften the blow. This one's a real stinger.

Multiple people have mentioned Askew is gone. When did this happen and what was the reasoning?

I wish the best of luck to JJ. I hope he gets things together and can move on. I think he will be back.

Pull this up halfway through the 2012 season and well see. If im wrong, Ill gladly eat my crow. With BBQ sauce.

Haha, if you are right I will gladly admit I'm wrong I just don't think Moore will be that much better. I'm just hoping they'll both dominate in the same defensive backfield.

This is a clear-cut case of Murphy's Law at work. I can't believe this.

I do, however, understand the circumstances under which this has happened. Janzen is having personal issues that are too great for the football program to handle, so he needs to get away and clear his head and reevaluate things. To all of the Chicken Littles here, understand that family ALWAYS comes first, and Janzen needs some time. The door has been left open for him to return to school, so it is best to settle down and wait and see what happens over the next few months. Until then, I wish Janzen nothing but the best in his pursuit of greater peace and closure in his life.

Janzen, if you do decide to return, we will welcome you back with open arms. If not, best wishes in your future endeavors, wherever you go. Vol For Life.

Finally, somebody gets it. Good luck kid, we all loved seeing you in orange. Hope to see you back in the fall with all your problems taken care of. VFL

This futbol thing is new to me. Not softening anything.

I bet he does not come back. But enrolls in a school that is closer to home, But Byron Moore will replace him easily. A better player he will be from season one. IMO... These personal issues of Janzen's seem to not be going away anytime soon and he will more than likely be granted a release because of this.. I just hope he does not enroll to LSU..

So guys is Aaron Douglas and Bryce Brown both VFL's??

Based on the arguments made here, I would have to say yes. Remember, it was the Heavenly Father himself that told Bryce to come to Tennessee (according to the Brown family).

I hope, and actually am optimistic that Byron Moore is going to be a good player, but people thinking he is going to be better than JJ is not based on reality.

Did JJ's father ever get a coaching job anywhere after the bowl game where he gave that great speech?
