UT vs UGA recruiting (split)

If only we could have pulled 6 wins with Georgia's roster. Now that would have been an accomplishment.

Why are you happy with 6 wins when your clearly should have won 8. Its ok to give away 2 football games you clearly should have won simply because Georgia had an awful year?

I believe we won every game we were supposed to win.

1. You are not furious. You are making excuses. We have plenty on this board who do that for the last two regimes here.

2. When have you had a poor recruiting class?

Dude we are not making excuses for Dooley. It was his first year. When he starts going backwards in the W column I will be calling for a change.

Remember this. Fulmer won the SEC E between two very poor seasons. Did he forget how to coach? Nope, he forgot to coach.

Our recruiting class last year was awful. Traditionally we have recruited well but this will probably be our best class in the CMR era. The switch to the 3-4 defense makes this class exponentially important. For the first time we will have guys on the team that fit our defense.

We lost because we have former walk ons starting and a one deep, not even good enough to have a servicable two deep at most positions. You can judge all you want, but all you're doing is throwing ginormous rocks in a glass house. You have as much or more talent than anyone in the SEC on the roster, so therefore it's probably best you shut up criticizing any other team when it comes to wins and losses.

Explain this to me. Georgia had an awful season. Our fans are furious. The reason for my optimism is a new AD, great recruiting class and a few organizational changes made to the football program. But I will be the first to tell you we are not where we want to be. We **** the bed numerous times this year and it cannot be acceptable moving forward.

However, UT had an awful season as well. While I hate your program I consider you to be a football power. Your showing against UAB was shameful and you found a way to lose against LSU and NC. Now to follow up the recruiting class is not up to UT standards. Yet the majority of your fan base seems to be very pleased with the direction of your program.

Now please dont turn this into a flame fest im asking for civil discussion.

There's a really obvious answer: context. UT's last 8+ win season was in 2007. UGA hadn't avoided winning 8 games since 1996. So when the two teams have average seasons, which one represents a downward trend, and which one doesn't? Throw in that Tennessee started 8 freshmen on offense over the course of the season, didn't have enough DBs to even have a nickel package, and was expected to miss a bowl, whereas Georgia returned a lot of talent and was expected to be a major player in the SEC East race. Doesn't a 6-6 season with a bowl loss look a lot better for one team than the other?

I am not a troll. Any insulting comments I make towards UT are in retaliation. I come hear to talk recruiting and because im a UGA fan im a lighting rod for trash talk. Fine with me but dont act like I initiate it.

No, you're a lightning rod for trash talk because you ask inane questions with obvious answers. We have plenty of rival fans who interact civilly.

This was not at 8 win team, get real.

I love when people with no knowledge of our roster come here to troll.

Are yall really going to say you shouldnt have beaten LSU and NC? Im not saying you were favored going in, I mean you had those games in hand and let them slip away. I dont think thats unfair criticism and some of you will probably agree.

Clearly...you do not have a clue. We were heavy underdogs at LSU. The fact that we could have won the game was.....Clearly amazing this year. That loss hurt so bad because we were in a position to win a huge game that we were not supposed to win. CLEARLY....you have no clue.

The NC game was bull****, and the LSU game was on the coaches.

We won both of those games. So there goes your argument. :)

Colorado? UCF? Compare these two losses to UNC and LSU. Whose were worse?

No Tennessee fan is happy with a six win season. You're implying our season was awful because we lost those games when getting to eight wins would have been overachieving for this team.

losing on the last play of the game to a team with better talent/depth > losing games to teams with less talent/depth

Ours were clearly worse losses in the sense that we should have won but didnt. Honestly though as a fan I would have felt worse about yours. As a UGA fan I would compare them to our loss to Arkansas this year. Tie game and we had the ball in Arkansas territory with less than 2 minutes. We ended up losing in regulation. Our season was horrible.

Either way, it's sad that we're basically arguing about who sucks less. Can't you go do that on a Georgia board?

Nobody is happy with where Tennessee is as a program right now. However, it is what it is and this was a 4-6 win team.

You will always get heated debates when you have 2 passionate fanbases. Nothing wrong with having disagreements as long as people don't start throwing insults around. I love this rivalry, especially the week leading up to the game.

We are making two separate arguments here. Your point is that based on your roster and your schedule, 6 wins is fine. I agree with your completely.

My point is you won 6 games, and your were in position to win two others and let those slip away. Im not saying you should have won if those games were played on paper, im saying your team played better, was up at the end, and let them slip away.
