Dooley and Saban both 6-6 in their first year

Cmon man...The analogy is the same as far as comparing Chizik and Dooley to Saban on a timeline. This isnt hard.

I'm just curious as to why you went from Saban who the thread was about and are now talking about Chizik, who by the way won more games than Dooley in year one.....just sayin

They both have comparable levels of experience and were both questionable hires...in the beginning. Both Saban and Chizik inherited much better situations as well and Dooley is holding his own in comparison.

Saban is a more proven coach, doesnt mean that he is better. He probably is better than Dooley but the ones better than Saban are on a very short list. Fact is we may have one of the better coaches in the country, we might not. Time will tell.

How many NCs does Dooley have? Thought so.....everyone loses to lesser talented teams now and again, that's why they play the games

Now I like Dooley. Just don't confuse him with Saban

If he had stayed at Alabama he would have had one. And would have been one of the hottest assistance coaches out there. But he went out on his own and became head coach and athletic director of La. Tech.

We should've lost to a third-rate UAB team but got lucky.

Saban nearly beat the would-be National Champions that year and crushed us, the SEC East Champions.

Regardless, this comparison and argument is stupid.

this also isnt sabans first year...we ABOUT lost to uab in dooleys first year but saban did LOSE to ULM so u aint got much of a argument either man :peace2:

...and Dooley accomplished a lot more with a lot less than what Saban had; on both lines, on the bench, minus all the open scholly's this year, and Freshman all over the field. The future looks real good! GBO!

Saban won an NC at LSU before he went to Alabama and went 6-6 in his first season.

Saban didn't have the brutal schedule we had first half of the season either. He didn't play the current #1 team and last year's champion either in his first year with a depleted roster. You can't compare a relatively young coach to the much older Saban; teams different. assistant coaches different; too many differences. Like many college coaches who go to the pros and don't do well (like Spurrier), they return to college where they have more control over their environment. Dooley + staff will do well here and two more recruiting classes and we'll be really off and running. I don't expect miracles next year but think we wil be much better on both sides of the ball. With Peyton, er, I mean Bray, back we're only going to get better.

Saban better coach..however..did loose to LA Monroe at home his first year

He lost to UAB in his first SEC season at LSU. Regretfully, that was a week before they beat Fulmer in OT in Baton Rouge in 2000.

At least the Dooley pulled his cameo UAB game out.

Dooley has done well his first year, but saban can walk into a recruits living room and point to multiple national titles and a former NFL career.

We've got a way to go, guys.

Sure we do...but saban had to start somewhere & he didn't light it up the first few years & win a NC!

Pete Carroll went 6-6 on his first season too, starting out with 2-6 and gradually improving to 6-6.

Saban didn't have a 10 win season until his 8th year has a HC. At this point I think that would be a better comparison between Saban and Dooley. I believe Dooley will get there as quick if not quicker than Saban. Also look below at Saban's record at Michigan State. Saban didn’t have a lot of early success at Michigan State.

1995 Michigan State 6–5–1
1996 Michigan State 6–6
1997 Michigan State 7–5
1998 Michigan State 6–6
1999 Michigan State 9–2

Screw pansy-ass Saban, I saw you blow that ridiculous lead on Auburn by getting soft and cute instead of just running the damn ball and owning the game. You had all the calls going your way and you didn't know what the hell you were doing, showed me something about the way you coach...go get 'em CDD, you'll be beating his ass before we know it.
