11 TN RB/CB Devrin Young - UT Signee

What are the chances that Devrin Young gets recruited over?

ZERO. This kid is a vol. The fans seem to want him gone, but he is a Vol. Get used to it. Letting him go would be a slap in the face and would say alot about the coaching staff, IMO.

Young isn't going anywhere. The kid is so fast it's rediculous and he has so much potential to help us out at so many places. KR, PR, WR (in Chaney's spread), edge rusher on PB, and could very well be an edge man on kickoff. He's going to be solid.

This board is all over the place. We piss and moan about UT letting a guy like Cobb, who is a local guy, go to Kentucky, and now we have an in state guy like Young, who the coaches have offered and accepted his commitment, and a majority of this board thinks we should let him go. Incredible.

How did you measure this? I've only seen 2 DY haters in this forum. (Of course, sometimes they hog about every other post, so maybe it just seems like there are a bunch of them.)

I agree that it's probably not a majority here, but there are definitely more than 2 people who don't want him here. It's time we all embrace him. He's coming to UT. He's not gonna be let go. He's not gonna be asked to "look around." He's got speed and we need it. And he's home grown. I hope he gets a shot and proves people wrong.

Back to Lanier though... This is his thread.

Don't really have a mathematical equation. I've just been paying attention to the comments being made.

What only two? I've seen more but I and most others that don't like the commit have just left it alone. It's like crying over spilled milk.

Cobb > Young

Cobb > Young

You never know. In terms of their high school career it is not Cobb>Young. Cobb was on a great team but he did not put up any kind of gawdy numbers in high school. He did not even play his college position. Cobb had never even played WR. If your claim is that it was obvious coming out of high school that Cobb would be as good as he is at WR then you are crazy. So all we can say at this point is we have no idea how Young will do at the next level.

Cobb was a better prospect coming out of high school athletically. You're right though Young might be the best thing for UT since sliced bread. I don't see it happening but I'll happily eat crow 4 years from now if that turns out to be true.

Heh...yea it was. :hi:

No, it wasn't actually. Let me break it down for you since you're slow. My point is that it's sad how we, as Vol fans, complained how we let great Knoxville and Tennesee talent leave and go to to other schools. i.e. Cobb. However, it is perfectly ok in those same some eyes to let Young go when he wants to be here and has an offer and committed to be a Vol. You follow me?

Lanier will be a Vol by Sunday, let's start discussing where he starts next September and who moves to corner. May be Devrin...

I never said we don't need him, jesus people! What I intended to mean was that with the remaining spots as tight as they are going to be...it wouldn't be a bad thing to have one extra. Obviously I want Loften here...

He's being back counted anyway. I wouldn't mind getting rid of Young.
