It was the first vol message board I ever knew. There was a solid recruiting guru on there called "jumpmaster". I wonder if anyone knows whatever happened to those guys.

I remeber Gridscape and jumpmaster, but I can't help you with what happened to jumpmaster. Gridscape got bought out by a different site if memory serves me correctly.

Loved GridScape. I was trying to think of the name of the site a few weeks ago but couldn't come up with it. I'm thinking it was mid to late 90's when I frequented that site...my memory sucks though.

Bought my first season tickets on Gridscape. The guy's job had taken him to Texas and he didn't want to give them up but couldn't go. Listed them on Gridscape. Bought those tickets from him around 7-8 years in a row.

Yep. Was a member. Jumpmaster was solid and there were some others there, too.

my first message board also. Chuck was a really neat guy... wonderful family-man, just starting to raise a family. I believe he worked for Mayfield Dairy. It was like a fraternity; then VN came along and just took the market.

Actually, Volquest took over Gridscape around the time Gridscape began charging a subscription. At that time, Volquest was still free. Back then there was another site for Rocky Top News that had a good message board as well.

Prolly couldn't stand all the *****ing about Vols Football, Players, Coaches....etc, and packed it in..............
Maybe he thought it wasn't worth the $$$ from ESPN.

Google "volchat" and it will take you there; merely a shell of its former self though.
started in 1993 and through the glory years, mid to late 90s to 2001, it was "the board". Then it got sold and went "paid" for Recruitniks forum; Volchat and other boards are still free though. Chuck still posts from time to time as do some of the other oldtimers, most notably "Jumping Jack Flash". Im biased but he may be the greatest poster on any board. The old coot, Roy Adams, aka "TennStud", used to post all the time but got PO'ed off earlier this year and took his toys and went home.......

I remember volinsider.com.

that website had some really good insite on UT. The guys that ran it kept their identity hidden. I think they eventually got exposed and the website was shut down, but i can't remember exactly what happened.

Gridscape met the same fate that all other contenders of the site below met. Use the tinyurl and go to "board home". You'll be amazed by the number of Vol posters on this one. Hands down the best sports forum in history... just waiting for a team to talk about. :hi:

Best Sports Site in History

BTW... don't know how long the mods will leave this up, so you may want to bookmark it!

Thats where I started. But the forum nazi and Tennstud caused me to look elsewhere, luckily I found Volnation and never looked back.
