'11 MI WR DeAnthony Arnett - UT Commit

Even though Kiffin called plays last year, Chaney was also here as Crompton finally showed some signs of potential. As far as offensive philosophies go, I think Chaney is a run guy as is Dooley.

IMHO, Dooley and Chaney are trying to establish an "identity" regardless of result. I see no other possible reason UT isn't a 60-40 run team.

Chaney has a history of being pass happy

We have completely forgotten what it is like to have the same coaches two years in a row and all of those stories from back in the day (Pre-Kiffin) about how the lights came on for a player in about their 3rd year in the system. Now, we write off coaches and players half-way before their first season ends, and in some cases, even before the first game.:mega_shok:

He was a offensive line coach for several years. He knows very well how to set up blocking schemes. I understand he was with Joe Tiller a while and they managed a pretty good passing game, but I don't think that necessarily means he is against running the ball or "pass happy" at all. I think it means he's well-rounded.

Dooley has said many times that we're going to run the ball. A guy who was a son of Vince who coached Walker and a guy once under Saban...I'd say we're going to run the ball a lot. It's hard now when we're down double digits every game.

Do you only come here to troll?

is that a serious question?

I have an opinion about Chaney. I know it is mind boggling for someone to have actual thoughts and ideas other than you, but welcome to the world. My opinion of Chaney has been well discussed in the regular forum. Your opinion of him is obviously different. Congratulations.

I make a couple smart alec comments in this thread and you call me a troll? Cool man.

Back to the topic at hand.... If we land Arnett our WR troubles are going to be obsolete for the next three seasons. We will be stacked. The deep threat in Hunter, the play maker in Da'rick, the red zone guy in Milton, and the slot in Arnett. Just need a TE to go with them (Rome/Clear please.)

The regular thread? You mean the football thread? In other words, the forum that has all the bipolar, illogical people?

They seemed to abandon the run well before the game was out of hand.

when we were up 7-3 we passed the ball 3 straight times and had to punt. Poole had only 2 carries in the 1st quarter

You can also stop running the ball when you have 3, at times 4, true freshmen on the O-line as well. No blocking = no running.

chavisut,

Didn't you just have an awesome Dwight Schrute avatar?

If yes, what happened to it? I miss giggling at that already...

How can we, if we are always behind. Makes no since to run if you're down by 30.
What about if you're up by 5 late in the game on 2nd and three almost in FG range? We pass stopping the clock then turn the ball over on downs. I'd rather take three cracks at getting the first and melt the clock. If you get the first then likely you're in FG range and the game is over. Both coordinators have crap to work with as far as talent and experience but Chaney's calls concern me more than Wilcox. But I'll end my rant because this is a topic for another forum.

Visting USC for the Oregon game

"It will be a hostile environment, but if they can hold up at Tennessee with 100,000 fans ... I don't know how many people will be in the Coliseum, but I don't think it will be as loud as it was in Knoxville."

"Academically, USC speaks for itself," said Arnett. "From a football standpoint, I'll look at the wide receivers and the quarterback position. For example, look at Robert Woods. Look at what he's doing as a true freshman.

"Man, no matter where you go, you're going to be surrounded by good players," said Arnett. "Coaches are always recruiting someone to take your job anyway. I just look at it like he's another great player to be around.

"When I look at things from a future standpoint, I look at me, him, Kyle Prater and Markeith Ambles being pretty unstoppable."

"There's a possibility of a set time," said Arnett. "I pretty much have a date in my head that no one knows. The decision won't carry on to 2011. I can say that much."
