I usually have a decent time at Autzen. I've got a group of friends I see every time.

Unfortunately every game I've ever seen in Eugene dating back to 96 has been a ducks blowout win.

I'll start with the negatives, and follow up with the positives.

Negative Nancy

1. Ducks fans; Stay classy, remain humble. Think 2007, and you'll understand why I'm saying this. These opportunities haven't come often for the Ducks, so enjoy the moment, but remember where and what Oregon's program has come from.

2. If ever a team lines up for 4 quarters, and runs downhill at the Ducks, you'll really see the boys from Oregon sweat. The Ducks are small up front, and have been pushed around from time to time against opposing offenses.

3. The defense as a whole is a relative unknown. I don't know how they'll fare against a legit and explosive offense. I think the unit is solid, but they're far from great. I expect USC to put up points.

4. Before we go proclaiming the Ducks the greatest team in the world, gather yourselves, and think back to 2008. Oklahoma ended up having the highest scoring offense of all time. Ran a hybrid spread, no huddle offense. Blew most everyone they played off the map. Put up 60 or more points 5 times, more than 50 8 times, and only scored under 40 once. They put up 35 in that game. They then went on to the National Title game and only mustered a measly 14 points. And I'd say that Oklahoma team had a tad bit more talent than Oregon's offense. Just giving people a little perspective.

5. Going for it on 4th and 6th in the middle of the field is going to cost the Ducks one of these days.

6. The Ducks have only played one team that's above .500 this season. Just saying.

Positive Pete

1. The Ducks are an amazing offensive team. Extremely fun to watch. Best offense since the 08 Oklahoma offense. I'm officially titling them "The Autzen Blitzkrieg".

2. If the Ducks beat USC next week, they're going to the National Title game. I don't see any other game on their schedule that could wind up being a loss. Washington isn't very good and is inconsistent, Oregon State isn't the same without James Rodgers, Arizona is overrated in my opinion, and Cal sucks. They beat SC, and they're in. Hopefully they'll put up 70 on Kiffen and company.

3. Does Chip Kelly remind anyone else of the 90's SOS? Think about it. A rookie coach comes in and takes over a program who's never won a title. They have an immediate impact, and take their team to heights that previously seemed unattainable. The cocky bastard brings in an explosive offense, and has no issue with running up the score, taking chances, and offending people. The program becomes a perennial contender(yet to be determined in Oregon's case), etc, etc, etc. I'm not saying Chip will be as successful as SOS, but he really reminds me of the old ball coach.

4. This season will prove to be very fruitful for Oregon. This offense, coupled with the massive amounts of national attention the Ducks are receiving, will land the program a very solid recruiting class. I'm calling it now. They'll land one of, George Farmer, Marqise Lee, or Devon Blackmon. How's a Farmer/Lee packaged deal sound Duck fans?

5. The Ducks are tremendously better without Jeremiah Masoli. Who would've thought that Masoli being arrested and booted from the team would turn out to be a positive for Oregon?

6. The potential for Oregon taking that next step into the status of "elite program" is becoming brighter and brighter. Will they? The odds are against them, but who knows? They could become the Oklahoma(of course they don't have the tradition and history) of the Pac-12. Meaning, they'll poach on the talent of a neighboring state, becoming an alternative for Californian prospects who chose against going to USC(Texas), and consistently challenge for a Pac-12 title. I see Ducks ruling the northern division, and SC the southern division. Taking that next step is dependent upon the Ducks going to the NC game.

7. Owamagbe Odighizuwa is probably second guessing his decision to attend UCLA. He should've just stayed home and went green.

Good post. I agree with both your negative and positive points mentioning Oklahoma. That 2008 Oklahoma team looked unstoppable... until the NC Game. Also, I have always thought that Oregon could turn into a consistently great team IF they maintain a strong recruiting handle on Californian prospects. We've had two of our best classes ever consecutively these last two years and, at the moment, I am betting on a third consecutive great class. We'll see if we can maintain that in the coming years.

And your dead on with your analysis of the 'SC game. By far, the biggest test left on the schedule and I think if we get past them (and stay healthy) we're going to Glendale.

If Oregon wants to take it to "the next level" they need to either go to the NC Game or WIN (not just go to) the Rose Bowl.

I don't think winning the Rose Bowl will make a difference. They have to go to the NC game to take that step "to the next level".

Many teams have gone to various second tier BCS bowl games(Kansas, West Virginia, Virginia Tech). Not many have had a chance at the big game. It sets apart the contenders from the pretenders.

I see your point but you're probably the only person in the CFB world who would call the granddaddy of them all, the Rose Bowl, a "second tier BCS bowl game."

They are all second tier now. You have the title game and a bunch of exhibition trash that mean little to at least one of the teams involved per game.

You won't be seeing it. AL will kill Auburn and LSU should.

Would love to see AL hammer Oregon, but we're most likely to see OU and UO. Neither could play with AL.

this is comimng from a guy who thinks florida would crush oregon. You dont know what you are talking about. Usc will offer less resistence defensively than ucla did. At least ucla didnt allow the huge play. Usc is going to get bombed on all night. Usc has no chance to even be in the game.

are you still on this "alabama is the team of the century" bandwagon. Hey take of you crimson shaded glasses. Alabama has been exposed. They have a weak secondary and a qb that cant handle pressure. They are are going to lose again.

I apparently disnt score high enough on the SAT. Hell, this place won't even let me post senseless top 25 polls and gibberish about Chattanooga.

Barring a meltdown of some sort, I don't see Bama losing again this season. Auburn has the best chance to beat them. LSU will sooner or later be successful in their effort to lose every week.

Coming from a guy who said we'd beat uga by 25. And that arizona would go 11-1.

Incorrect. I believed Florida could beat Oregon. That however was earlier in the season, after two or three games were played. Nobody knew Oregon was this good. The seasons fluid, things change. :hi:

Oregon hides a weak defensive line with a great offense. They don't want any of Bama, they'd run it right at them all night. That's a great team and it's easy to fall in love with what they're doing offensively. Only team that i see matching up favorably is Bama, everyone else is pretty much toast against that bunch.

Auburn would play Oregon tough. That games a toss up in my opinion.

I think Oklahoma would be a solid matchup. A ton of points would be scored in that game.

And this may come to a surprise to some, but I think Boise State matches up well with Oregon. I think that'd be a pretty good game as well.

I still think Alabama would beat Oregon. Tough team who can line up and run the ball as well as stop it. Plus, they're more talented, and defensively, better coached. Would love to see an Oregon vs. Alabama match up.

Basically, any team that can score and score big would be a tough matchup for Oregon. Especially one that can run the ball. That's why USC is probably going to wind up being their toughest test.
