I heard the players are saying that they get more tired from running on and off the field. Seems like they don't like the massive substitutions that Wilcox's scheme calls for. Anyone else heard anything on this?

Sounds funny, but could have some merit. Wilcox may have elaborate defensive schemes that have many different personnel looks....but sadly, he has only a handful of different personnel to work with.

Same old story line, can't wait till next year when we.......

I heard the players are getting tired of bogus and nonfounded topics being discussed on this web site. :zeitung_lesen:

After watching the Titans on Monday night, I like revolving line play. Jogging on and off the field cannot be more tiresome than trying to push 300lbs play after play. The level of energy you could sustain should show up greater in the late quarters.

if they're getting tired running 15yds to the sideline then Wylie is doing a terrible job

Overstreet is source, jackasses. Players are complaining that subs are keeping them from getting into a groove. If you haven't noticed the amount of subbing we do, you haven't watched. this isn't a rumor or me making something up.

Considering the injuries and knowing Jackson will be playing DT makes one believe there won't be many kids to use as subs this week.

I doubt the subbing tires out a player more than actually playing the snaps, but it doesn't look like it will matter now until we get some guys healthy again.

Getting into a groove versus getting tired is two different things. I can understand how subbing can make a player feel as if he doesn't really have the time to get into a "groove."

maybe not making it up but you didn't explain it except to say they were getting tired from running off the field. Might want to reread your post before jumping straight to the name-calling phase

let me rephrase.

Players don't like the fact that they are being subbed out every other play.

Well next time, make sure you state your point clearly when starting a thread and if you have a source, put it out there. Okay, hero?

Maybe this is all just BS. Maybe 1 guy said it. I believe it is BS started by someone who doesn't like DD and wants to pile on more complaints. We have had a lot of that lately. Just maybe.

ok, well you can ignore the information. I wsas looking for someone else that had info to comment. I gave you the source? I guess you're content to debate uniform color or the starting QB.

Who did you expect to show up and fill you in? Derek Dooley himself? No one on here knows anymore than you about whats going on with the players.

I guess there could be substitution overkill. There was a time when starters would play until they got tired & needed a breather.

I dont think fatigue would be such a factor if they were running on the field 11 at a time instead of 13.

If I recall, this came up a few weeks ago regarding rotating running backs. Seems we had a bunch of us in agreement that we might be throwing off the RBs mojo by taking him out right after a decent gain. Same could be said for the defense, especially if they treat it like a traditional substitution.

In a traditional substitution the sub goes in for a few plays or a series so the other guy can get a break, get taped up, etc. But in a rotational scheme, the units have to stay up on the sideline, helmets on, ready to go back in. They should be studying the opponent and keeping their heads in the game, not taking a break. When you see players come off for situational rotations and they take off their helmets, they aren't doing it right.

Chavis used to rotate D Linemen a lot (not as much as Wilcox). However, I think Wilcox is rotating Lb's frequently which I don't think is normal for most defenses.

I've assumed it had something to do with depth or lack of.

I think what makes them tired more than anything is when they can't get off the field on 3rd down.
