I like all white also that is what i am hoping for! The Era Error thing has been widely publicized for awhile now assumed everyone knew about that. But Steven Segal said one time that assumption is the mother of all F up's..
When things are not looking to good you kind of look t other things to dwell on like uniforms, But i still love to watch the VOLS..
I wonder id Dooley will go with traditional White on White or like Era error did and go Orange pants with White jerseys? And what is everyone's favorite away jersey combination.
Sorry I dont have the time/nor how to search through hundreds of pages in this thread, but it's really bugged me the past few years how our uniforms have gone from the big, distinctive nameplate fonts on the back of the jerseys to the more normal ones like everyone else has now. I think this happened in 07 or 08 maybe? I'm not sure, but those old ones were just awesome. No one else in the country had anything like them I dont think
Those nameplates used the Clarendon font, which was one of the stock fonts that Sports Belle used on their uniforms.
SB manufactured the Vols jerseys (with that font for the names) from 1991-2001. From 91-96 they jerseys they provided UT with carried their own logo, from 97-01 they manufactured the jerseys for adidas (and also did most of adidas' football and basketball jerseys for all of their contracted schools during that period).
The only year Sports Belle didn't use it was 1997, when the jerseys they made for adidas had the sewn letters and numbers. SB didn't have the technology to produce those letters in the tackle-twill fabric at the time. When they returned to screen-printed jerseys in 1998, the unique font returned.
After a fee dispute, adidas moved to other manufacturers in 2002 and the unique font was replaced by a generic one after that.
Thanks for the info- Wow, I was way off on the dates. I loved that font though- I thought it was really distinctive to UT. Plus, we had some of our best seasons (including a NC) in those. Does anyone else agree?
