And it isn't like this conversation doesn't happen with every pro and college football team, or at any private gym for that matter.

Well they will talk about whatever they want until Tennessee gives them something positive to write about.

Exactly. For the most part people can practice good hygiene. But there are always a couple in any group that cross the line. It happens everywhere.

well Desmond said on Gameday he had never heard of such a thing. I was tempted to send him the articles about it from NFL teams but wasn't sure he would understand

He wouldn't, besides he would be too busy looking in a mirror or helping them cake makeup on Herbstreet.

Well I sorta have to agree with espn on this one. I don't disagree with Dooley trying to get the guys to take care of themselves either BUT when stuff like that gets out...you're going to get ribbed about it. Maybe Dooley was being too honest.

Exactly. There have been multiple ESPN stories about NFL teams dealing with this issue.

People think, "eww, they aren't cleaning themselves," when it is more along the lines of being extremely thorough, to a level that most people in their daily lives are not. Those locker rooms are bacteria breeding grounds.

People that think staph is a joke obviously never had to deal with it. But I agree, the reaction from the media was expected.

We clean our cars, uniforms.... etc. A good horse owner takes good care of his prize winning horse. Why can't a coach teach his players the proper way to groom themselves in a locker room setting? Did anyone make fun of basketball great John wooden for teaching his players to tie their shoes? Forget the four letter network! Go Big Orange!!! Teach on Coach Dooley!!!

I'm about 99.98% positive Forde is using the situation in jest. It's a funny subject, lighten up people. I don't blame Dooley for having to go over how to shower or even making light of it to the media. I also don't pin all the blame on him for the debacle that was the 2nd of the Oregon game, but I have to wonder what made UT quit after the pick 6 and hold Dooley accountable for some it.

this isnt news...pay espn no mind they have zero credibility.

css is the same way. they down us for everything. when we start winning it will all go away. right now they need something to talk about and i hate it, but it is us now. bob neal isn't too bad on us but the others all down us. the sunday night show with neal, tony, brady and mark is pretty bad also. neal as i said is ok but the rest of them-----

Our college baseball team had the "staph prevention" talk every year. I don't think it's something out of the ordinary.

Mark graduated from UGA, writes for ESPN, and he does have a profound hate for TN. I about stopped watching Talking Football because of him. He not only always predicts UT to lose against everyone, but he has to throw in some smart alec comment about the Vols as well. That show really dropped off since Tee left. Tee was a UT homer but at least he has a entertaining personalty.

Considering how tightly he likes to control the media, you'd think Dooley would have known that it was a bad idea to mention it out in front of the cameras.

Who cares.... They praise Coach John Wooden and the first thing he taught every year was how to tie your shoes.

Wooden won championships. If Saban were to come out this week with the same comments about "shower discipline," everybody'd have a laugh about it but nobody would criticize him at all. Eccentricities are only funny if you're winning.

They win because they pay attention to details. I don't know if Coach Dooley will be successful here, but I think he has the mental make up to be a successful coach here.

I think Dooley laughs his ass off knowing these guys are taking him seriously on something he was obviously joking about....Everyone else can laugh about it while the media tries to find a way to make him look dumb, but it's not working!

He's getting attention for UT....good for him!

CSS should stick to high school....no one on there is believable anymore!
