I am comfortable with what this staff and in particular Dooley has shown in evaluating talent and recruiting. I base that on his salvaging and building on to the '10 class, that he has UT in on numerous high end recruits, that he has a well conceived plan of attack, and... maybe the biggest factor.... he's played the pied piper for Saban, Meyer, et al with several recruits already. He had a long way to go from being as far behind as he was to getting ahead of those guys on evals... he did it to at least a small extent within 4 months.
My hope was that if Dooley couldn't win, he would set the next guy up with a much better roster than he inherited. I feel pretty good about that right now.
My remaining concern with Dooley is whether he and this staff can coach or not. If they can coach, do they make a great staff when combined?
I differ with many here on Kiffin. I think he is a very talented football coach above and beyond his recruiting abilities. I honestly don't know if Dooley is. Kiffin and staff flat outcoached Meyer, Richt, Spurrier, and Saban last year. I'd like to see Dooley do that before deciding whether he's a coach or not.
