Here's the various reports on what's going to happen:

Per Clay Travis: Knoxville PD spokesperson comes on @3hourlunch1045 and tells us he expects at least one more UT player to be charged.

Per Jimmy Hyams: No more charges will be filed this week. They will wrap up the investigation and hand the evidence over to the D.A.'s office. After that additional charges could be filed and a possibility of additional punishments by the University remains.

Per Tony Basilio: A source tells me the main perpetrator/puncher is supposed to come in on Monday to give a confession to investigators. I've been told this is probably going to be an aggravated assault case due to the extent of the injuries to the off duty police officer.

Per Basilio: Hughes got lawyered up on Friday because he's in some real trouble here. You can expect to see him suspended by UT pretty soon for his involvement in this.

Per Basilio: You have to hand it to Rogers. He's apparently not afraid to mix it up. I think he's facing a suspension of some sort as well from the team.

Per Brent Hubbs:
1. I think we will know more Monday afternoon, but someone I spoke with doesn't think Hughes will be charged. But it's very important to remember that the investigation is not over.

2. I think Hughes will be on the field in the fall provided he does his academic work and isn't involved in any other incident.

3. I think the possibility of more suspensions remains, I think that depends on what comes out of the police investigation.

Per Wes Rucker: Never say never, but I'd be surprised to see any new charges Monday. Not sure what (if anything) UT will announce Monday, either.

Per Rucker: As expected, police investigation into Vols bar fight still in its infancy. Many people still need to be questioned. Long way to the finish.

Per Rucker: This isn't a fact, but several sources at the KPD have told me at least one Vol (maybe more) will be charged in connection with the fight.

Per hatvol96: I think we're in serious, almost armageddonic trouble at defensive tackle. Other than Myles, I think everyone else is alright, excepting King. His issues come from prior behavior and just being there.

Per hatvol96: We'll probably know more Tuesday afternoon.

That's a lot of speculation from some credible sources and not so credrble sources. It covers both ends of the spectrum.

exactly.... :eek:lol: I just joined this board but I've been reading for a couple of years and it cracks me up how everyone kisses hat's arse.....there must be something about him that I'm missing...

I know exactly what you're saying here... but, as a lawyer, hat could easily have credible first or second-hand knowledge..

He's abrasive and opinionated... but I'd take his word for it if he says it.

cnn had an article about it. cnn is the most visited news website in the world and a top 50 website in terms of hits:

Tennessee player dismissed after bar brawl that left officer injured - CNN.com

Dooley booted Darren Myles of Atlanta, who is accused of assaulting a University of Tennessee officer who rushed to the scene where the Knoxville officer was knocked unconscious.
Dooley also indefinitely suspended Marlon Walls, a defensive tackle from Olive Branch, Mississippi, and linebacker Greg King of Memphis, Tennessee. Their role in the incident was not known late Friday.
"It is a privilege, not a right, to be a member of the University of Tennessee football team," Dooley said in a statement. "The most important responsibility of that privilege is to properly represent this institution and our supporters on and off the field.
"I am disappointed and in many ways embarrassed by the poor judgment displayed on many fronts by several members of our football team last night," Dooley said.

Not here to flame, but I've been following the story and read the entire Basillo blog. There is a lot more information there about the incident that doesn't sound good for the Vols.

There but for the grace of God go the Hogs. Sorry for your troubles and hope things start looking up. Your team and fans are in my prayers.

If Hughes is charged with something, I have a hard time seeing how hat's statement is that far from the truth. Our depth *with* him is lacking, and when you have Walls already suspended and John Brown apparently with a mountain to climb for qualification, we might end up running a 2-4-5 defense.

Either that or we'll run the: "Everyone just stand up, walk around, and swarm to the ball" Defense.

Can someone please clear this up for me.

I originally thought....

1. Someone hit the cop and knocked him cold and he hit the ground which caused the injuries.

2. That a group of guys started kickign said cop once he was on the ground?

If these are true, I cannot see how these guys aren't facing some very serious legal trouble. And from all reports, it seems Hughes was the guy who knocked the guy cold.

If this is wrong, pelase correct me. It's very possible I missed something somewhere.

A news report had a quote from the cop's brother stating he had head wounds from landing backwards after being pushed. That quote made no mention of kicking the cop while he was down.

As far as I've seen... the original fight individual was the one being kicked, not the cop. Details are still really really scarce at the moment... and I could be completely wrong, this is just what I've read.

Most of the initial reports were spotty and speculative, at best, and those were saying the cop was being kicked while down. That, combined with not really stating he was an off-duty and non-uniformed cop was painting a very very bad first impression for most.
