The Association Football Thread

Don't forget about the overwhelming amount of immigrants that probably contributed to the large amount of tickets from the US.

I'm not so sure how large that is. I've seen the US travel. It's not like only Hispanics go. I doubt those white guys are all European, although I'm sure there's some contribution from both groups.

I just think that there is a large amount of people who bought tickets in the US that are cheering for other countries.

Maybe, but I don't think it will be that big. The US isn't a soccer country, but our population is so big that we can still get plenty of our fans to go. I have no problem thinking we'll see some good, pro-american crowds. Would be pretty sweet to see against England, but I guess we'll see how that goes.

Rossi didn't make Italy's 23 man. It's a shame. Sure wish he was wearing our colors.

A shame? He's a traitor. "American at heart but Italian on the field", my ass. He'd be starting over here but he went where here's not even gonna see the field. Hope it was worth it.

I agree with you. Own your decision and don't try to play both sides.

Its not that I feel bad for him. We could just really use him since he'd be one of our top players and at a position of little depth.

I'm not that upset with him. It's not like he was going to play for the US all along, then all of a sudden realized he could play for Italy at age 17 and just left. He probably dreamed of playing for them at a very young age.

I don't think he regrets his decision.

Don't disagree with your position but I was commenting on his quote
"American at heart but Italian on the field"

BS, Italian at heart and Italian on the field. This is why he went with their team. Great decision for him but don't piss down my neck and tell me it's raining.

I'd agree, but I don't really know for sure.

Mauro Camoranesi, who was born in Argentina, plays for Italy, and I actually believe him when he says he feels like an Argentine. That being said, Guiseppi Rossi seems like he just tried to get on peoples good sides without thinking about what he was saying.

So we play the Brits next sat at 230pm, right? Should we start a WC 2010 thread? Are there enough people that even care?

Hahahaha That's hilarious. Perfectly describes the Italians.

That's way more action that I'm used to seeing in an Italian match. Sure, they may win games, but that is the most boring brand of soccer I've ever seen.
89 minutes of super-strong defense.
