I remember at one time, oh say 7-12 years ago, we had several players who also were pretty good in track. Does anyone remember the names?

Leonard Scott, Sam Graddy and Willie Gault were the best. Scott was an AA track star and teammed with Justin Gatlin to lead the Vols to the NCAA championship. He ran 100/200 meters and KOs in FB. Graddy was an Olympian and took the Silver at LA Olympics in the 100 meters and ran back KOs:good!:. Gault was the most famous as he was both FB AA as leading ST KO returner in the nation and one of the top hurdlers in the world. Before Gault there was the great Richmond Flowers who was All-SEC and AA in FB and one of the World's three best hurdlers.

I was watching the NCAA track and field indoor championships while I was running on the treadmill this morning. I didn't see any UT mens sprinters in any of the finals. The women were holding their own in the overall standings and won the 800m.

I was a student there when Leonard Scott was around. That guy was blazing fast but had hands like a brick. I could count his impact plays on one hand. Probably why he went on to be a track star and not a football one.

A good reminder that speed doesn't translate to ability. Give me Jason Witten anyday. He wasn't going past you....he was going to catch over you, then run THROUGH you.

Mens team is way down, Coach "retired" after last eyar. We did what most other top schools have done and consolidated our track programs under women's coach JJ Clark. They're getting better. JJ coached both men and women at Florida, he'll get the men's program back to where it needs to be.

Jabari Greer was NCAA Champion I believe in the hurdles.

Yeah, Jabari was the real deal in Track. I ran against him twice in the State Finals in Hurdles and the 400m, and ran against him in AAU T&F for 2 years. I think he could've been an Olympian in Track but he chased the $$ to the NFL. Don't blame him though, he made the right choice.
