I'll take the NC. Even with a guarantee, UK will probably lose to us in football anyway.

beating an extremely good Kensucky team in the NC game> giving Kensucky a 1-25 record against us in football over the past 26 years..... And i even like football more than basketball.

Rings and Nets any day over a regular season win. Thing is, it doesn't matter what the Bball guys do, we DON'T LOSE to KY in FBALL. Moot point.

UT beating UK to win the NC would be hilarious. The collective scream that would come out of that state would be heard from coast to coast and make Jonestown look like a warmup.

well worth 1 football win since there would be no UK fans left to enjoy the streak ending

National Title will be remembered forever. Streak is great, but its merely an arguing point not of historical significance. Its not like we've beaten Florida or Bama for 25 straight...Its pathetic Kentucky football.

But that's the point. Losing to Kentucky in football would be PATHETIC!!! However, taking a win during a regular season over a National Championship would be ridiculous. Let's just worry about getting there first

How about this scenario...

Would you rather beat Kentucky in the NCAA finals while the next year in football we lose to:
1)UT Martin
2)Oregon
3)Blown out by UF
4)Blown out by Bammer
5)Memphis last second FG
6)Vandy
7)Kentucky

Or lose to KY in the NCAA finals while going 8-4 next year in football?

I would actually say they care ONLY about football, and care nothing about the University of Tennessee as a whole.

By the way, I vote for national champs in basketball.

So would you rather win an SEC championship in football, or 5 straight women's National Championships. I'll take football all day, guess I'm not a University of Tennessee fan.

Here's a scenario in which I'm not sure which I'd rather choose between.

Would you rather have UT make history, meet Kentucky in the NC game, enact revenge upon them, and be national champions? The only stipulation being a guaranteed loss to Kentucky next year in football, thus ending a 25 year tradition of victory.

Or would you rather lose tomorrow to Ohio State, not make history in basketball, yet continue our dominance over Kentucky in football.

I know we're a football school with pride over the longest winning streak in the nation and everything, but I think I'd rather have some great success in basketball.

Just food for thought..
I want both... I hate KY more than the Taliban right about now.

I have experienced a couple losses in my lifetime to Kentucky in football...I would gladly give up a loss in football for the guys to win the National title in basketball over Kentucky....That would burn them up inside for the rest of their lives.

Right on!!

Kentucky only has basketball. If we were to beat them head to head for a NC they would never get over that. We'd just start the football streak over again anyway. :p

Exactly. Even if they wanna brag about their football win, beating them for a NC in their biggest sport would shut em up. I'd still take the UK football loss and winning the bball title over any team left, not just Kentucky.

Can a UK fan vote?

If so, I'll take the football win. That's UK ending the streak.

I also suspect I'm in a big big minority among UK fans,

There should be more stipulations. What if all Tennessee had to do was beat Kentucky to win the East and it was guranteed (sp) they beat Bama in Atlanta for the SECCG?

Now that is a conundrum

Give me the National title in BBball, unless it has SEC title/BCS implications in Football.

I'd take the National Championship in basketball....Kentucky would screw up the guaranteed win in football anyway and lose....

football, always

cause they're going to give us absolute hell if UK ends that streak; remember the Vandy fans after they beat us in 2005?
