We lost this game Because
-- Wayne Chism was not the senior leader he has been for most of the year. He committed 4 really dumb fouls and the 3rd and 4th were the dumbest considering the foul trouble he already was in and he hurt himself on the 4th. He's one tough guy. He always lays it on the line for the Vols, but he didn't play smart basketball tonight.

The game was over When
-- Stephen Pearl decided he was JP Prince on a fast break and failed to pass to Bobby Maze, perhaps our strongest finisher, to try to cut the lead to 8. Pearl bonked the shot and the bonk led to a wide-open (the first of three in a row) three pointer by Walker that put Florida up by 13.

I can't believe That
-- the officiating was actually good in this game. Besides Wayne and Scotty getting bumped a few times with no calls, there were no obviously bad calls. All of Chism's fouls were good (heck, easy) calls.

It was perplexing to Watch
-- Bobby Maze put on a dribbling clinic late in the game when we needed three point shots. Hopson had been good the whole game and Tatum was heating up. Yet Maze dribbled, turned it over, wasted time, etc.
-- Goins take crazy shot after crazy shot in the low post

I was not surprised that Donovan
-- finally called timeout with under 15 to go in the game and instructed his guys to go right at Stephen Pearl. I can't believe it has taken this long for an opposing coach to do that every time he is in the game and we are in man to man. The result was 2 quick buckets by Tyus and Macklin and Florida in control of the game. Only Calipari's weakness as a coach (and perhaps Coach Pearl going zone a lot) will prevent a repeat many, many times on Saturday.

I was pleased to See
-- Scotty Hopson assume a leadership role. He almost single-handedly kept this game from being over in the first half. I hope we see some carry-over this weekend.
-- Tatum hit some big three point shots.
-- Chism give his all for Tennessee ... again
-- JP Prince have 2 games in a row where he had less than 5 head-scratcher plays
-- Pearl's hussle on offense. He really gets after it. Unfortunately, he gets abused on the glass and is easy points on defense.

I hate losing, but congrats to the Gators
-- for perhaps punching their ticket to the Dance (or at least giving themselves a puncher's chance)
-- drawing KY in the SEC tournament unless either UT can beat KY on Saturday or FL can beat KY at Rupp...or both.

I hope
-- Wayne can get some R&R between now and Saturday. Banging in the low post with Cousins and Orton is no remedy for a sore body.

pearl is letting these guys be lazy and its just frustrating sometimes because hes a good coach but then he gets lazy with the players

Gotta love JP making a great block on a dunk and then screaming while a Gator calmly collects the offensive board and lays it back in. Man, I hate watching that guy play.

I haven't yet decided whether I will miss Wayne more or JP less.

I'm hoping Harris makes me miss Wayne less and Maymon and Tatum make me miss JP much, much less.

What a waste of talent , that type of play is what I have come to expect from JP.

i thought the calls were still a little questionable. it seemed like any florida could go in for a put back regardless of if there was a ut player between them and the rim or not.

Yeah, because right after you get that high to block a shot at the rim, you're going to land and jump again to contest a put back layup. Get off his nuts.

I actually agree with this. No one else was running the floor, or they could have got the loose ball.

With that said, I have seen JP celebrate after a dunk and his man gets a layup at the other end.

It happened last night as well in the first half.

My thoughts on this game. We made another not so great team look good, seems like a trend, especially on the road.

1. First and foremost, JP is an idiot I don't care what anyone says....can't wait for him to leave.
2. Glad to see Hopson and Tatum show up and play. Too bad it was on a night that Chism decided to make boneheaded fouls.
3. PEARL had the I think 4th most minutes???? Can someone please explain to me how that happens..EVER??

I can expain that to you. It's because at times he was the only one out there playing any defense. Nah Steven isn't very good but he was one, if not the only one giving any kind of effort on the defensive side of the ball last night. These guys just don't bring it every night and that's what will lead them to a early tournament exit.

Sorry man but Steven was the target on the defensive end...whoever he was on got the ball in the post and then it was over. Yes, he does give EFFORT which is one thing Hopson needs to learn....has anyone else noticed that Hopson stands straight up and down one defense 75% of the time?

Stevie was not even in the top 10 reasons why the game turned out the way it did last night.

Some just feel the need to pick on certain guys. This team just has a very weak bench, no consistent shooters and they take nights off on defense, especially on the road. The whole team should share the blame, even Hopson. Yeah he made a few baskets, then watched who he was suppose to be defending score on the other end. I've never seen a team give as many uncontested shots like this one does at times. It's like they want to play horse or something.

I completely agree with all these comments. Pearl plays hard, but 24 mins is double what he should be playing. Hopefully, Tatum's mins will increase and Pearl's decrease.

Last night was a game where we really missed Tyler's ability to penetrate into the lane and create. Instead, we had JP or Skylar getting caught in the lane with nowhere to go. We could also really use Negedu's athleticism on this team as well.

One other point: SEC officiating is terrible -- home team almost always doubles visiting team in FTs. Man Ted Valentine sucks!

I was ashamed of our effort last night. We quit, and I would rather watch a .500 team that lays it on the line instead of this team. Ex) 2009 TN football team, in the Alabama game we could have layed down but they fought back and almost won.

Wise vol i agree with most everything you said except that i think the officiating was horrible in the second half. They were callin ticky-tack fouls on us but bobby and jp basically would get raped and the refs just ignored it. If wayne stays outa foul trouble we win that game. Williams did ok but he has now low post game, pearl tried his best but still got taken behind the woodshed by tyus, and kenny really didn't do much. Props to scotty for keepin us in it tho. He really was playin like a mickey d's all american.

The fact that pearl is starting is not good---if his dad wasn't the coach, he wouldn't even be on the team.
