Since 1989, Florida has only played two non conference games outside the state of Florida...Pathetic.

September 21st, 1991. Syracuse 38, Florida 21. Before that there was a 38-13 win over Memphis in 1989.

That's a pretty ridiculous stat.

But why would they need to play tough road out-of-conference games? They have all the players they could want in their own state...so they wouldn't do it for recruiting purposes. Also, they play in the SEC...they don't need a tough non-conference slate.

Add to that, that they play Florida State every year, who was one of the elite programs in the country during that stretch. They had no reason to add another tough nonconference road game.

They may not have a need to but IMO the best should never be afraid to play anyone, anywhere.

yeah but those games dont really count...

Not if you are a UT fan desperately clinging to any criticism of your rivals you can come up with so that you don't have to think about your own ship sinking right out from underneath you.

That stung

But, yes, you are exactly right.

Go back to arguing that Clemson has a better job than UT.

I hate UF as much as the next guy, but that stat is a little misleading.
They played FSU when FSU was FSU.
They have aslo had some Home and Homes with Miami. As well as LSU as their western opponet every year.

I would jump on Auburn about having one of the more pathetic OOC schedules. UGA was the worst till this year.

Excellent post.

Usually it's FSU fans who bring up the whole out of state OOC schedule, which is ironic considering their recent slump has directly contributed to our OOC not being as strong as it once was. It wasn't an issue when the Noles were getting the best of UF in the 90s and late 80s.

The only fans with a legit gripe about UF's OOC slate are Miami fans. We dropped them right in the middle of their run of 4 national titles in 9 years, and replaced them with teams like Montana State.

well it would be awesome if miami and uf played more :toast:

I agree to a point.

Playing an SEC schedule plus FSU and Miami every year is murder. We lucked out in '08 getting both teams when they were down.

It would be more awesome for Miami than Florida, financially speaking. You're guaranteed a sold out stadium when UF comes to town.

That said I'd be cool with a home-and-home against Miami once a decade.

Only if you're afraid of expectations. Clemson is, and always has been, trash.

Ask yourself, honestly, if you asked this week 100 coaches which job they'd rather have .....

Miami is now in the hapless universe of suckitude that is the ACC. They should focus for the time being on developing a defense on par with a decent middle school team before getting all uppity about wanting to play any SEC team, much less Florida.

No it isn't because, as bad as the ACC on the whole is right now, Miami is an order of magnitude worse.

Sure I would.

well miami is geting better..from 06 to 07..that team was horrible...i mean no play makers and horrible d

08 miami relied on too many freshmans..7-6

09 was a decent season 9-4 but showed improvement..

miami has to win the ACC soon
