This would be a GOOD hire. I guarantee you no one on here had a clue who Urban Myer was before Florida hired him. How can you not be excited about a young, energetic, coach who has worked under some of the BEST coaches in football?

I'd take him in a heartbeat.

What is with hiring people because their dad's are good coaches

I don't know a lot about this guy but I do think it's pretty clear he started on third base much like our previous head football coach

if we had Fulmer as AD, Cut as interim coach, with Peyton Manning as coach in waiting.. I am sure one day he will have some role at UT... THAT DAY CANT COME TOO SOON...:angel:

Are you being serious? Meyer led Utah to an undefeated season. Nobody knew who Meyer was... if you didn't know who Meyer was, you're not much of a college football fan.

It's "you're" and how many #1 recruiting classes has Saban had without this guy? Anyone with half a brain knows Saban was the reason the recruits signed, not Dooley. Nice try. I'd love to see how someone as clever as you defends his losing record?

Gawd: please don't equate Dooley to Meyer or Tressell. Tressell won multiple national titles at Youngstown State, Meyer pioneered the spread and was undefeated at utah. Dooley was 4-8 at La.Tech last year--playing a bunch of weak sisters. Somebody was saying that la. tech lost a /close/ game to idaho! Boy, that is comforting.

It's starting to speak of desperation to hire a guy with a losing record this season. :twocents:

Does anyone remember who the coach at Tulane was the year (1998) that they went undefeated??? All I'm saying is, to me and from what I've heard, the guy is of unquestionable character, has coached under some pretty stout coaches and is young and motivated. I'll take that over a Cutcliffe any day of the week.

By the way, the coach of Tulane was Tommy Bowden.
