That would be an ultimate hit to USC by going after Ken Norton Jr, their best assistant coach, defensive coordinator, and lead recruiter for the last 5 years.

After retiring from the NFL, Norton Jr. served as a radio and television commentator and analyst, and coached football at Hamilton High School in Los Angeles, California.
In 2004, he joined the coaching staff of the USC Trojan football team under Head Coach Pete Carroll. From 2004-present, he has served as the linebacker coach for the Trojans; while at USC he has helped recruit and developed NFL-bound linebackers such as NFL Pro Bowler Lofa Tatupu, Dallas Sartz, Keith Rivers, Brian Cushing, Kaluka Maiava, Clay Matthews III, and Rey Maualuga.
In January 2008, Norton declined offers by UCLA's new head coach, Rick Neuheisel, to join the Bruins coaching as an assistant head coach.[1]
On January 7, 2009, Norton was promoted to USC Assistant Head Coach for Defense. A form of recognition of his continuing work with the USC linebacker corps, he has developed three consecutive Rose Bowl MVPs: Brian Cushing (2007), Rey Maualuga (2008) and Kaluka Maiava (2009).[2]
Attending the player evaluations of the by-invitation-only 2009 NFL Scouting Combine were all four of Norton's Trojan senior class linebacker proteges: Brian Cushing, Kaluka Maiava, Clay Matthews III, and Rey Maualuga, the continuation of a football coaching legacy becoming known as "USC Linebacker U.".

Hes got 3 Super Bowl rings and played for Jimmy Johnson and George Siefert.

He could secure us a great recruiting class over the next few years and who is a tougher disciplinarian than a former All-Pro Linebacker.

Maybe he could get Al Wilson on our staff.

Unlike Lane, he is loyal to USC
He went with Carroll to Seattle as their Linebacker's coach.

He might get NFL or college head coach consideration next year after he gets his hands on Hill, Tatupa, and Curry.

Ken Norton Jr. - USC Football

Look at the guys he recruited to USC, if we name him Head Coach I think we get several of those guys to come to Tennessee like Prater, Scroggins, Bailey, and Woods.

He grew up in Cali. So he's not going anywhere. Ken has family in Knoxville.
He just went to Seattle with his boss. I think that myth was debunked.

If he has family in Knoxville that makes it even better.

Imagine this guy going into homes in the south recruiting kids to Tennessee talking about his time at USC and his actual track record of developing guys into Pro Bowlers while himself being a 3x Pro Bowler in the NFL.

He'd give Urban Bayer and Richt a run for their money in their own backyards.

Really?

I'd take a lot of people from their staff, not all of them are proven snakes like Lame Kitten.

I would not take any of them, they are all snakes. Those guys run programs that are always in trouble and I am not sure we could keep him. No thanks.

This - Have you ever been to USC, or California for that matter? It's not Knoxville in any shape or form. Leave the west coasters on the west coast where they want to be.
You are 100% right.

We need to leave anybody alone who doesn't know what its like at Tennessee, the only people we should consider are the guys from Tennessee who know what its all about.

Guys like Cutcliffe, Steele, Fulmer, and Sanders are who we should only focus on. :realmad:

Thats probably what the boosters and Hamilton think.

You're right, lets overlook their success into turning guys into NFL stars just because of 1 snake from USC that slithered to Oakland and then to Knoxville.

Lets keep it in the family here at Tennessee, lets talk to Randy Sanders and then call John Chavis.

Great coach but he does not have any HC experience and he is a west coast guy that could possibly bolt for USC or any other Pac 10 job.

Says who?

Have you took a look at our list of coaches currently being looked at, everyone other than Steele would bolt for a new job if it opened up.

If you pay them right and actually put a real buyout price tag on the coach they wont leave. If Norton had a buyout like Jimbo Fisher did then no team could go after him.

I don't want any one from the Fulmer days. Why don't we talk about all the pending investigations from that USC staff or all the crap that little moron lk got us in.

What does their pending investigations have to do with their coaches?

They are in trouble over Reggie Bush's parents.
