Cutcliffe is our new man.

I am SOOOOO sick of the constant gloom & doom talk. If UT was so irrelevant, our search for a new coach wouldn't be such national news. The timing of everything is causing some potential coaches that may have ben more interested to hold off; but no matter who we hire, we will continue to be one of the most watched programs due to the interest this has generated. A big win or two next season will go a long way towards righting the ship, and except for the O-line, we have the players in place to get that done.

I think it's because the public loves comedy.

CDC is enough to get us on the right track and hold the program steady until Peyton takes over in 3-4 yrs. JMO

i love the manning as the default tn coach idea. he played here it is assumed that he would desire to be the savior of the program and ride in on an orange horse to resurrect tn football. certainly he is a football genius and a student of the game, however it is conceivable that he could be playing in 3-4 years. are we to assume that tn would just grant him the coaching position without any coaching experience - that has never happened in the modern era at a top program! i can see it now....manning stadium on manning way next to scenic manning river at the foot of the manning mountains in manningville.

The main problem is the people in charge of selecting the next coach are apparently so afraid of getting screwed again that they aren't even trying to go big.
If that is Hammy's thought process, he doesn't need to be the AD at Tennessee.

To me the difference is with Cut it's the same old offence. With Kippy maybe Chaney is OC and we get something different then add recruiters and a good DC.

I agree and IMO I think Lance Thompson is that good DC. Kippy, Chaney and Lance would be a very solid foundation to build around and Lance and Kippy are both solid recruiters!

The problem with Cutcliffe is......He is no different then Fulmer. He will bring Roper back, try to lure 3rd and chavis back along with more than likely the entire old staff. What was the point of firing Fulmer if this happens? Someone explain this to me.........

As much as I would prefer to have a "big name" coach, I don't think you can force them to come to Knoxville. Apparantly, some coaches have more class and ethics than Kiffin when it comes to leaving teams this time of year. I just don't think that either MH or DC should be villified for what Kiffin did...JMO

Its a shame that Tennessee "fans" have become this way. Growing up, the fans were so rabid, the stadium was full no matter what. The fans then prided themselves on being the best fans in the nation.

And he has the personality of a brick. Couldn't hire a more boring, uninspiring coaching prospect...unless they tried to bring Fulmer back. There is a reason no one is beating down Fulmer's door...and neither are the USC's of the world calling Cutcliffe about an opening....Just us. Only our idiots want them.

I don't know where you people come from! You can't be from around here! You are so removed from the game of football and the tradition at Tennessee that you don't know what your talking about! Coach Fulmer was very inspiring to the players. You think he was the same as he was during the PF Show or press conferences. Now, I will agree, Cutcliff is even more level headed. I don't think I've been less inspired as a Vol fan as the day Kiffin gave his presser to accept the job at UT. His flat tone, and fake inflections in his voice are forced and don't move me to do anything. He is so uninspiring, he has to make promises that he can't back up.

If you like that, get on the plane with kiffen and go with him. We don't want effing USC videos and photos in our athletic facilities. We don't want the spread offense just like we don't want the triple option (which both, by the way, was conceived to balance the game when you have inferior talent in the trenches).

The one think I am looking forward to, just like Josh McNeil, is Coach Cut talking about what it means to put on that Orange jersey and that T on the helmet. Who wore it before them, and what they accomplished and that the 100,000+ fans are yelling at the top of there lungs because they know that the players will give there all for Tennessee...Just like those that came before them!

Go Vols!

I sense Cutcliffe will be UT's Mike Shula and that Hamilton and the coaches that left and the ones that are turning us down, think that the NCAA is going to come down on us hard. Cutcliffe will not be expected to win, but just run a clean program the next 3-4 years. Then if we have any money availabe
le we will go after the "splash" hire.

Tennessee has proven FAR too loyal to do that to Cutcliffe. Just look at how long they let Fulmer run us into the ground. As long has he is having his 7-8 win seasons, Tennessee will never bail on him.

Jim Harbaugh was only an asst. at WKU. Peyton is no Jim Harbaugh and can skip a WKU like stint for sure. Ironically the Colts dumped Harbaugh to draft Peyton.

I will always support the program first and foremost. But I think it is a damn shame that for whatever reason our program has FALLEN this far and has no signs of improving anytime soon.
