Also, I know how to spell decade. I just didn't feel like doing it right.

This thread is going to be run over by Fulmer bashers! Prepare for numerous posts of, "When you look at all of that talent we should have won a lot more..." Great team, but I take Stallworth over Washington... My favorite player of the decade is easily Meachem! Loved watching him play!

I don't know if I would want Ainge at his best or Clausen at his best. Clausen was just money on the road.

I would take just about anyone over Kelly Washington.

I would take Ainge with Cutcliff! If he would have had him all four years it would have been amazing!

Think if Clausen could have had Cutcliffe. Sanders did a poor job of devoloping QB's. Tee Martin wasn't nearly as good in '99 as he was in '98. AJ Suggs, Schaeffer, Ainge, and Rick Clausen. Sanders didn't have a good track record, but Casey Clausen thrived.

Michael Munoz??? I didn't even continue down the list after I saw that one. Does anyone need further proof that this program hit ROCK BOTTOM under Fulmer?

and the myth of KW continues....

I'd take this current staff with Casey over Cut. Look what amazing things Cut did with the OM qb's. And look how prepared Crompton was after working with Cut. Please, his claim to fame is based on the Mannings (who would have made it big anywhere)

Comparing the 1990's to the 2000's:

All Americans - 1st Team

TENNESSEE OFFICIAL ATHLETIC SITE - Football

1990-99 11 All Americans

2000-09 12 All Americans

Draft Picks:

1990-99 65 overall 12 1st round

2000-99 54 drafted 10 1st round

Potential NFL Hall of Famers (remember UT only has 2)

1990-99

Peyton Manning

Jamal Lewis

2000-99

Jason Witten

John Henderson

Albert Haynesworth

The only real difference in the decades was the 1990's had a Heisman runner-up in Heath, a should have won the Heisman in Peyton and Tee. The QB position is so important. If Peyton played in the 2000's everything would have been reversed.

I don't see Jamal Lewis making the Hall of Fame. It takes more than one phenomenal season and a couple of really great games sprinkled throughout the rest of your career to make the Hall of Fame. Now I'll just sit back and wait for Hat's conniption.

HOLD ON! Did you just try to claim that Tee Martin should have won the Heisman, or was that just really poor wording? If the former, the LMFAO. :eek:lol:

I'm tentatively considering Tyler Bray for my All-Decade team because the decade ain't over yet, he may just rise to his potential earlier than expected, and he and his teammates may do something spectacular before 2010 is in the history books. It doesn't hurt to dream big anyway. If not, he'll still be around for the beginning of the next decade.

Yeah, this staff has done well. That doesn't mean Cut wasn't a great coach.

Peyton, Eli, Schuler, Tee Martin, and Ainge. Over night Ainge was a new QB. Over night. It took Crompton like 5 games with this staff. Also, you can't blame Cut for Crompton being sub-par (and Clawson was OC when Crompdaddy was the starter). He had 4 coordinators in 5 years. I'll take Clausen with this staff or Cutcliffe over Clausen with Sanders. That's the point.

Note - Thaddeus Lewis (whoever that is) threw for 3300 yards, 20 TD's, and only 8 picks at Duke this year.

If by night, you mean offseason...

And Ainge showed flashes of brilliance his freshman year under Sanders. A lot of his problems were just mental.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Crompton showed us something against LSU when he was a RS frosh, too. His problems were mental. He had an offseason to work with the staff, but it took him a little more time than that. Both situations are pretty similar, and I'm not saying Cut did a better job than CLK has (impossible to compare with 2 different QB's). All I know is I like the result of both. Plus I think Ainge was worse in '05 than Crompton was in '08.
