I heard that too. I knew he was fast but that suprised me just a little. I'm interested to see his combine times.

That's really, really fast. That's kind of hard to believe, not Hyams' part but Berry's.

Color me shocked if he breaks 4.5 at the combines. These "times" that people come across in recruiting and other things have always been something of a fib to me.

Wow, it only took Hyams 3 years to break this story. That is a new record for Jimmy Janet Reno Hyams. Next thing you know Hyams will be telling everyone Berry will become a starter and an All American at UT.

Berry's 40 time will not be that great. He'll run somewhere in the 4.5 range. A 4.31 is ridiculous. That would put him up there with Chris Johnson and guys like that in 40 speed and he simply doens't have that kind of speed.

Also said he had a 37" vertical at the same time the 4.31 was clocked.

Berry ran a 4.35 in his junior year of high school according to Rivals, and it was verified. This does not surprise me. He will run faster than a 4.5 at the combine, I know that much.

Johnson was 4.24

Berry could absolutely run a 4.30

The thing that McShay and Kiper always talk about is his terrific burst. After a couple months working exclusively on speed and agility and getting completely healthy, I'm betting he shocks the combine world...

Berry has added weight and muscle since he was a Jr in highschool. I would think he will run between 4.45 and a 4.55, he makes up his speed by having a nose for the ball.

Reggie Bush also gained weight and muscle from HS and it certainly didn't slow him down at the combine. If we were talking a LB I'd buy that argument, but with a skill guy like Berry, I'd like to think it wouldn't have as much an effect.

I would be interested to know if that was hand timed? I figure he'll run around 4.4 after some time working to get prepared for the combine.

Berry has nowhere close to the speed that Chris Johnson has.

No one in the NFL does. The difference between CJ and a 4.45 is almost 1 foot/second. That is a huge difference on the field.

With that said, I think he'll probably run a 4.4-4.45

The 40 times are tough to tab. I'd say he comes in around 4.5. I've heard you generally add about .2 seconds at the combine to what you hear elsewhere (generally hand-timed runs) which puts him at 4.5.

Remember all the supposed 4.2 guys that Florida had last year. Harvin ran a 4.41 time at the 40 and he has great speed. If Berry outruns him I'd be shocked.

Florida fans should know all about that. How many 4.2 guys do you have? :)
