You said for what it's worth. It's worth very, very little.

We've got our 2 QBs for this class.

Newton is not, nor was ever, seriously considered by this staff.

Neither was Matt Simms according to many of the recruiting "experts" here and elsewhere.

Just sayin'......

I disagree, MSU is his best fit, they have talent and he is familiar with the offense.
He's familiar with Mullen but the offense was developed by Mike Sanford and his relationship with Strong dates back before Mullen. Cam wants to start so he has a better shot with UL's depth chart. Also the school has better history of putting players in the league and the defenses in the Big (l)east are so suspect. Remember Mike Sanford made Alex Smith into the first overall pick in the NFL so if he get the OC job and his skill set this kid will be a monster in the Big East. Love the direction Mullen is taking that program but this isn't basketball, I really don't see MSU landing enough talent to go better than 7 or 8 wins yearly but Strong recruits Va, NC, SC and Fl so he could win 8-10 games yearly. Cam would be a star and get to play in BCS or New Years Day bowls. That's not happening in the SEC at MSU imo.

I never said he was a serious choice by the staff. I said Ambles has been pushing for him to get an offer! That is all.

we should have taken him over simms, IMO.

He steals a laptop at Florida, he gets kicked off the team and makes a last page of the national paper.

He steals a laptop at Tennessee and it is on the cover of NY Times Sports section, the NCAA is claiming we have a lack of institutional control, and Clemson is turning us into PETA.

While no one questions Newton's talent, some could clearly argue over his decision making process. At QB, 1 poor decision could be the difference between a BCS bowl and playing some whining Big Ten team in the Outback. Just ask Ainge.

Newton made a visit back in summer and spent day with staff. after that day, we were not interested in him...

Sorry to keep this thread alive, because clearly it's over. But, I am just curious to hear more about this, LWS... if there is more to hear?

Thanks!

He must have shown an attitude that even NFL coaches weren't acustomed to seeing.

Larry, you could have saved us a lot of speculation here. But, where's the fun in that? :hi:

"They feel I have the capability of coming in and being the starter," said Newton. "That's what I'm looking for in the school that I commit to."

Newton doesn't plan to wait long to make a commitment. He recently graduated from Blinn Community College in Brenham, Texas, and would enroll at a four-year school in January with two years to play two.

"I'd like to make my decision in about 10 days," he said. "Hopefully, I'd be a big Christmas present to the university that I choose."
Down to Auburn, MSU and Oklahoma.
