It's not like it's the first time he's said that. I told you guys months ago this dude wants to be told he's going to be the man before he commits anywhere. That's the chief reason he will not be in a Volunteer uniform IMO.

IF the staff thought he could play for Tennessee they would have told him what he wanted to hear months ago. for wahtever reason, they don't want to offer him. No sense trying to determine the reason. But if he could play here, we would offer...

LV, Lane Kiffin did say if he liked a QB enough he would tweak the system around him.

Of course, he was referring to recruiting Tebow at USC haha.

Cam Newton = Miss. State lock

Why not?!?!?! Other people obviously think hes good. Im sure he can play a pro style.

To the coaches, star rankings are worth about as much as the crap I took earlier today.

If Newton is this can't miss prospect that some are pimping him out to be, then why aren't more schools beating down his door to offer him?

Besides this, character issues are a gamble with him too from what I have heard. He's just overall not a good fit for what this staff is looking for right now.

We are going to regret it. He didn't do himself any favors with the character issues, but I believe he is definitely worth the risk. Let him know he's on a short leash and will hit the street at record speed if he starts screwing up.

Nevertheless, he's a moot issue at this point. He doesn't even mention us in his list now, and that tells me the staff passed on him. Big mistake IMHO, as I honestly believe he is our best shot by far at having 10+ wins next season. He comes in and our offense is smoking hot. Like Vince Young takes a major load off of Chris Johnson and vice versa...so would Cam Newton make Bryce Brown a Heisman candidate. Teams would not be able to stack up against the run with Brown motioning one way and Newton the other.

All this BS about him insisting on being assured a starting spot is ridiculous. THE GUY IS STARTER MATERIAL. It would be a waste for both a team and himself to go to a team and have to sit for any length, as he only has 2 yrs to play.

Otherwise, we are looking at another 7-5 season, breaking in a Freshman at QB. Even Peyton and Casey Clausen struggled their freshman seasons.

Cam Newton wouldn't beat out Stephens for the job - I don't think he could learn the system in time to start in 2010. Then Bray starts in 2011.

Casey didn't lose a game his freshman year until we got drilled by KSU in the Cotton Bowl. That was Joey Mathews and AJ Suggs struggling during Casey's freshman year.

Ainge and Schaeffer made a go of it as freshmen in 2004.

Peyton struggled at times in 94, but that is also why he was so good in 95

MSU all the way. Mullen recruited him at Florida and his system fits him perfectly. I'm actually surprised this isn't a done deal already.
