If it's so trivial, why are you still arguing the point? :ermm:
There is nothing trivial about wanting to preserve tradition. And no, I don't think adding a little black to the uniform threatens tradition, I'm just calling you on your statement that the subject is trivial when it is clearly not trivial to those on either side of the issue. Otherwise, there would not be twenty threads on the subject...
Many of those that are *****ing about tradition are the same lot that let Fulmer slowly wreck the program because he was "a Tennessee boy." You will have to pardon me if I don't care what they think about the team and their freaking jerseys.
And I have been a UT fan since birth. I turned 26 today. I may not have the same background in the tradition as a lot of you, but I have enough to know that the Tennessee tradition i care the most about is winning.
.And Saturday night, Tennessee (10) strutted some black jerseys with orange numbers against South Carolina. Dash reaction: Not quite as hideous as anticipated, but not exactly a look that evokes memories of Gen. Neyland, Johnny Majors, Reggie White and Peyton Manning. If the decidedly nontraditional Lane Kiffin thinks it would help him sign a recruit, the Volunteers would come running out through a cursive "T" before their next home game.
Does anyone here understand TRADITION????????
Texas, Penn State, Bama, USC, Navy, Army, Michigan, Ohio State(I'm sorry I ever said anything positive about that crap hole).......
Would they do the black jersey?????(Don't say Army...they are black/gold)
It is about tradition!!!!! The uni's looked good, team played well......but looked like a bunch of copy-cats. Be unique...and STICK with tradition!
wow, can't believe there are this many people still b*tching about UT wearing a black and orange jersey, ONE TIME, on Halloween.
The game's over. The holiday is over. The jersey is over. Get over it already.
Only problem is when you give someone an inch, they want a mile. (I.e., "Do it again with black pants and black helmets.")
It was neat for a one-time Halloween night game, but let's not get carried away.
Case in point: Florida Gators justice, Tennessee Volunteers jerseys and Georgia Bulldogs helmets hit The Dash - ESPN
Isn't it great to be mentioned with football programs like North Carolina instead of Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama (I know), USC, and Penn State?
God, those jerseys are just hideous. How dare they mess with tradition and get more publicity? Recruits don't want to play for cool programs, they want to pander to crabby old people piss and moan because some young whipper snapper is blocking their view of the game by standing up and cheering. Fire Lane Kiffin now, Phillip Fulmer is the only person who can possibly save this program from becoming a hip championship contender.
